    Petrol tank leak

Hi after trying to take my petrol tank off i can get 2 hoses off the drain but theres one main one that wont stop leaking whether i turn the knob to RES or ON. I if the knob is half way in between res and on petrol really sures out, if its on res or on it still leaks out but not with as much force.

The only way i can take it off is by quickly taking the hose off and pluging the tank drain with my finger and propping the tank on an angle so petrol doesnt spill out then i get to clean the petrol off my arms and hands

Does the leak stop when u turn the tap to off? If so then I think your diaphram is broken. Same thing happened to mine and flooded my engine, which broke a cam chain and cost alot to fix haha. Don't act on my info though, I'm still new to bikes so wait for someone with more experience to let you know

    Oh noes

Bikes a zx2r, tap only has ON/PRI/RES options no OFF

Does sound a lot like a dodgy diaphram, Have you pulled the tap apart at all ? might be worth checking there's no jamming/clogging going on

Yeh i guess its worth taking it off and having a look. Did u ever notice any issues like this dave on the zx2. Its not a bother really it aint gonna affect the way the petrol is delivered into the carbies anyway, just a bit messy when i need to take it off

I don't remember it being a problem and I did take of the tank a few times but when I did I think there was only a small amount of fuel in it so it wasn't really comming through. But I can't recall it being an issue when I had the tank off.

Besides this how's the bike been going ? Gone and got yourself licenced up yet ? We'll have to go for a ride sometime, i'll show you some local roads

bikes been going great, stripped it appart and fixed that neutral issue, took the carbs out gave them a clean, all the jets and floats and what not. Just waiting for o-rings for the carbs cos the ones there are going brittle and breaking as expected. Have the bike up and running again soon. Working on a new intake at the moment, theres noting wrong with the existing just experimenting,

I believe you may be referring to the hairpin corner near the airport i havent got my license yet cos had major battery issues where it wouldnt start, or id push start it but if it stall somewhere or i turned it off id be walking it home which has happened luckily on a few kms from home so was a bearable walk. and when i got an instructor down to give me a few pointers for the test etc the batt died again so gotta rebook. Got a new batt and a trickle charger so nothing like that happens ever again haha got all my gear and a brand spanking new shoei helmet from the states for half the price here, i tried the apparel section on psb with no avail.
anyway hows your big boys bike going?

Yea bikes going great, well appart from a mates sister reversing into it last weekend (but that's all getting sorted and it's only really a damaged fairing and pillion peg). I'm finally pretty confortable with the power and have gained a great deal of throttle control
Good to hear that you've got all your gear sorted out, now you shouldn't have many cost ahead of you,

Sounds like you've been going to town on the bike Sucks you've had some problems, but I guess that's just the way it goes with older bikes (I fixed up some clutch and started motor issues when I had it)
Seems like your well on your way, give me a yell when you licenced up and we'll go for a squirt
