    Question Question of 2 Hondas

    Hey All

I am in the process of getting my first bike, and until recently been pretty much sold on getting a VTR-250. While looking at one at the bike shop around the corner from work, I cam across a Hornet 250 (which from my understanding has a motor similar to the CBR 250).

I think the Hornet may be a bit better on long rides with the little bit of extra wieght.

So I guess I am curious as to what others think of either or both?

    Thanks

    Glen

Wow, great post PVA, so full of information and totally worth the mouse click....

Pesado, the Hornet is a little older now, and an import, which I personally don't care about, it's not as bulletproof as the VTR mechanically, but will give better performance. It also looks better.

I'd go for the Hornet myself, but both are very solid buys. Looks and cost are your main factors here.

If it's between an older VTR or a Hornet of the same year, I'd buy the Hornet. Never ridden one but they look like they'd be fun, and the CBR motor is heaps more fun than the VTR.

I think the Hornet is at least a couple of years newer...

I have to say thanks to semi and resist, for their opinions and while I am leaning towards the Hornet I wonder if anybody else has a say.

Whatever you decide on, make sure you get a machanical inspection first. Most places selling import Jap bikes are ok, but some definitely are not.

Spending $200 on a mechanical check from a mobile mechanic like Derek Ball or K-Tec is money well spent.

In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

I would get the hornet in a heartbeat. Seems like it would be a really fun bike to ride! Don't see many up for sale in Perth (From what I have noticed while looking).

thanks for the suggestion Barfridge, the guys also offer a year warranty on the bikes but I will look into it.

M|ke, once I have chosen which I want I will say who the store is if people want to know... just protecting my interest... don't want you sneaking in under my nose

Desmogod... I really am leaning that way

Well I made my mind up and have gone with the hornet... if anyone is interested they have more VTRs and Hornets in stock at the moment and would be happy to let people know where they are.

While I know it is a salesmans job to sell things (bike in this case) I have got good, friendly pre/during sales service from these guys and would be happy to send people their way.

I will only post the name if people want it or pm me if you want the chance to beat others to the punch...
