R Class Shadow Request for test ride, hopefully this week

Hi lovely, wonderful, awesome people who can shadow mere learners such as myself

I've fallen in love with this bike at Rick Gill Honda in Ozzy Park but they don't usually have enough staff to offer someone a shadow, so I was wondering if someone from here can?

Basically, I'm not sure if they're open tomorrow because of the public holiday, and the 28th I'm working all day but Thursday or Friday, anytime would be really helpful. I'm flexible those two days. If not this week, then I'm really flexible the week after, I just thought the sooner the better so they don't sell it!

I can meet you there if you like? It'd only be a short shadow request so possibly a bit of a pain, but I'd really appreciate it.

Also there's a ZX6 at Dale Britton I've wanted to try out for a realy long time too, so if you're free for a while I may ride down there too. Otherwise just the first one is fine too.

Let me know if anyone's free then and thanks heaps in advance! I can pay you back in...beer? cheapish lunch? bit of petrol depending how far you come from and how far we ride.

Looks like Brant can sort you out if, not I should be able to find sometime

What you looking at, at Ozzy Park? Why not try a few out?? Make sure you jump on a Honda as well as a Gixxer, just to make sure the one that you like is the one for you

Hey Viper, that's really helpful thanks, shall PM you my number, thanks heaps!! Just to let you know I may be a litle nervous. Obviously I've got the whole riding thing down pat but taking out a dealer bike will probably have me a little less confident. But it should be fun

Stoney, I think while I've got Viper, I might try to ride at least the three bikes I've been thinking about for a while, mainly the R6 (which I've ridden once but was far less confident so it was like 10m down the road...not a real ride by any means), the ZX6 and Rick Gill has the Ninja 650R. It's that gorgeous sky blue and the pillion seat is blue. drove past it, chucked a U-y and then came back and drooled all over it. $8500 with only 2000kms on the clock. But I'll also see what else there is to ride. thanks for the advice

I can't really afford a bike right now, but if this Ninja is as awesome as I think then I will rearrange things It's perfect coz it's comfy and upright but is faired and looks like a sports bike.

the 650R sounds like a good buy, priced about right if it's around an 08/09 model. You could look out for a Suzuki GSX650F they are about the same as the Ninja, just not as pretty coloured

I wouldn't bother with the R6 personally, that's just me

    Have fun

I can vouch for the 650r, picked mine up in September a couple of weeks before passing my r's! I will admit I didn't ride anything else because it just felt good. I describe it as a "bigger gpx". Good fun but not at all scary, hits 60 in first by the time you've reached the other side of the lights, $600 for full comp insurance, looks good and if you open the throttle right up its still not scary. Only thing I want is a better seat. Riding to bridgetown and back was hell on the butt! Obviously there are faster bikes but feels safe as a first big one. For reference, mine is an 09 with 8,500 on the clock and got it for $6,700 from Causeway Ktm/Ducati. Good luck :-)

    thanks guys.

fincl, I sat on it (I wasn't in bike gear when I saw it) and it felt comfy...a lot more than my 250 ninja that's for sure. So hopefully just around the city it's good. I just particularly like this one because the pillion seat is light blue as well! And they all have ABS which totally seals the deal (pending ride obviously).
I'm glad it's not "scary" as you said because only having had a few lessons I'm not 100% confident on a bigger bike so test riding should be interesting. I feel confident in my abilty as a rider in general but you know how it is when you change bikes, particularly an upgrade...and having ridden only a year.

I'm soooo excited to try it out.

EDIT: oh very nice. That's the colour of my baby Ninja, the one I'm looking at is powder blue. Hehe sorry but it's prettier =)
