Hi,
I'm new to bikes and just bought two bikes. I plan to park them in a carport but I'm worried they will be stolen. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

keep them out of plain view ( round the back of the house if possible) and use disk locks/ alarms

What about an anchor point?

i guess you can use one but its only as strong as the chain that you use.
talk to a lock smith they can point you in the right direction for anchor points and types of locks and chains.
Prestige down at Port Kennedy are pretty good as one of their workers rides an sv 1000 Jake is his name he can help you out

ok thanks
might go down and see them.

Ya might want to look at xena disc locks, they have built in alarms... but at the end of the day if they want your bike the'll take it!! At least have your bikes covered for theft...just in case..![]()
If you can't put it in a shed then disk lock is mandatory. Alarm and cover also very desirable. Most chains and locks are easy to bypass unless they are anchored and can't be attacked with bolt cutters.
Xena locks reportedly are very unreliable and produce false alarms. There are other alarmed disk locks you might consider first.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

I am having to clear out the garage at the moment for my new bike since the car doesn't fit it has become a bit of a storeroom/dump...
was thinking of making my Amstaff's new bedroom, but unfortunately they would most likely steal him too![]()
Mines in my garage with a cover on it and a disc lock and my 70 kilo Rotty has full run of the house and Garage,

What you See....
Isnt Always what you GET..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make a sign
This house guarded by shotgun three days a week, you guess which three.
But seriously, insurance and a good audible alarm, if they really want them there is not a lot more you can do that hasnt been suggested.
They hung a sign up in our town "If you live it up, you won't live it down"-Tom Waits
Might not believe this one but if its outside get automatic lights, i know a few guys that have caught crooks in their driveway because they were woken by the automatic lights, also scares people off since it makes them bloody obvious if they want to try and cut locks/put a bike into a ute.
many years back i guy i know had a property at wanneroo and he had a system where he had a beem of light set up by the gate so when any one opend the gate or walked through they broke the beem and set off the alarm and he was the only one who could switch the alarm off at the house , dont know what the system was someone here may know
I heard a story a few months ago, about a guy who was sick of his car being stolen from the local pub, only to be found on the other side of town the next morning. So he got an ignition coil, powered by the battery through a switch, and ran a frayed HT lead along the back of the driver's seat.
Sure enough he was in the pub when he heard a blood curdling scream from the car park. Never had any trouble again!
I wonder if you could weave electric fence ribbon through the bike's seat, with a coil powering that! mwahaha
aussieman, i think your talking about a laser alarm system?
