    Question Service Time

I have finally done 1000km on my Ninja 250r and I will now need to take it for a service (it's 1st service yaay!!)

I was reading through other threads on PSB and I decided I will get it done at Northside Kawasaki.

    The thing is I have never gotten a service for a bike... :s I know I'm a n00b

Could anyone tell me roughly how much it costs and if they know what would be done for the very first service?

I'm assuming they will just check a lot of things, and change the oil/top up fluids.

They do complete a huge checklist of items but usually that involves a quick ride around the block and a few minutes making ticks on the list. Really the only thing they do is an oil and filter change.

Northside Kawasaki? Didn't they close down a few years ago?

Give Derek Ball a ring, he's a champ.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

Roughly $200 for a first service if memory serves me
Fluid change and checking over for any loosening of parts.

Of course you could call the dealer and ask

    Awesome thanks Spock and Barfrangipani

I didnt think it would be anything special, the bike is still in pretty new condition.

Also I'm not sure if Northside is closed or not haha didn't check the date of the thread, and I couldn't find their actual website.

Oh and i don't know who Derek Ball or where he works, any chance I could get a contact number to give him a ring?

Sweet all sorted! Derek will come to my house and do it whilst I'm at work, makes it very convenient for me as I'm working full time at the moment before uni starts again, I'm actually working 6 days a week 9 hour shift. Gotta love all this holiday time overtime available! ooh and it will cost $160

    Thanks again guys!

Maybe I'm missing something, but of the bike is brand new (hence the first service) would you not take it back to the place you purchased the bike, so that the people who assembled the bike are the people checking it and so that you maintain the warranty?

Having just been through the first service on my own bike, I can say it cost me $230 and they did oil/filter, adjusted chain/clutch/throttle and checked over everything, and provided me with a report for warranty purposes.

I'm thinking just like my car, if they are qualified it shouldn't matter, they just fill out the service history book.

And besides ill be selling it in a couple of months once I buy a bigger bike.
