Sorry if its already been asked elsewhere - Do instructors have 650+cc bikes to take your 'R' lessons on or am I gonna have to get a bigger bike beforehand, and get a shadow everywhere?

If instructors offer R class lessons they will either specify you need your own bike or they will have suitable R class bikes to use.

I had plenty of time to rub one out in space which was great but after awhile it was like living in a snowglobe - Peter Griffin
Not sure why you think they need "650cc and above"As long as it's over 250cc it would be an "R" class bike
When I got my "L" (now RE) and "K" (now R) classes (many, many) years ago the instructor/Cully's had several bikes, 2 82 Yammie XS250RK's and an identical (apart from cc's) XS400RK and that was what I did my big bike licence on

yes, instructors have bikes. Give them a call and have a chat.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.
