    Question So Last Night

    Hey Guys,

I'm kinda new to riding, well I have been riding for almost a year now but only recently have I been on my bike almost every day.

Last night I was riding down Alexander Drive, and I know there is a speed Camera coming up near the Dianella shops. Made sure I was doing less than 60.. and then flash! at 55...

There was another bloke next to me in a white ute, he too was doing the same speed as me. I thought about it last night, the distance between the front wheel and rear on the bike is alot less than the car, I'm pretty sure that speed camera uses the ground sensors to calculate the speed as there are two sensors perfectly spaced just after the white line.

I also remember back in May when I got flashed by one of the same types of fixed cameras, I still haven't got any notifications and I definitely wasn't speeding on that occasion too.

Does anyone else think this or could give some info?

I've been told the current cameras can catch people on the other side of the road too, for instance if it is front facing for you, it is rear for traffic in the opposite direction, perhaps it was pinging someone else?

if you genuinely werent speeding mate I wouldn't lose sleep over it. if it ever comes contest it.

I got flashed the other day doing 58kmph (as indicated on the needle) in the car in a 60 zone. Could have been the other side of the road as mentioned above as all the vehicles around me were doing the same speed as I

Yeah, there was only me and the other car and I'm 100% sure either of us weren't speeding. I haven't lost any demerits since 2007 so it wouldn't be a big deal but man its annoying.

If its a traffic light camera appararently they have a habit of being trigger happy, noone seems to get the fines from the wrong flashes though.

^ What Virt said. It's a common complaint, yet I haven't heard of anyone actually getting a ticket.

they're targeting bikes looking for fender eliminators and illegal exhaust systems, taking your photo through the lights saves having an extra 3 police cars out patrolling

Short wheel base sets off the sensors which are under the floor. Don't worry about it
Going fast is not a problem, it's the sudden stopping that hurts a lot...

Meanwhile WAPOL are collating photographs of motorcycles and which intersections they ride through. If you go that way often, expect a yellow sticker, your bike confiscated or a severe beating.

I've been told they randomly set cameras to flash every vehicle to catch people on mobile phones.

That's why I take side streets and avoid them as much as possible
