Cool Some days are better than others...

Here's a question to fellow newbies, and maybe old hacks with some experience -

Do you have days where your riding is just shit?

Sometimes I can hop on the bike, and everything is as it is normally - but I'm just not feeling it as I should. It seems to take extra concentration to snap myself out of it. Nothing dangerous, just not as sharp and prone to drift (mentally).

My neighbour reckons he never rides hungry, as that kills his concentration.

Yup, I've had shockers. Including days where I've turned around, gone home and taken the car instead.

I reckon it pays to listen to the voice inside your head on days like that.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

Done the same on group rides where the pace of my brain wasn't up to the pace of the ride. Better for everyone just to go home.
Remember half the cagers out there are below average drivers...

I'm having one of those today, riding average, feeling like I need to be extra careful - have been riding like a grandpa as a result. As Pauline Hanson would say "I don't like it".

This. You know deep down you're not menat to be on the bike for whatever reason, listen to that little voice, but not the one that tells you to burn things and hurt your friends.

+1 for all comments, glad its not just me. Have days where the bike is an extension of myself (no sexual inuendo intended) and can do nothing wrong.
. . .and days where I want to hop off and start walking.

Good question. It is all relative to that butterfly flapping it's wings somewhere in a far off distant land. Happens to all I would say. Always listen the little voice/gut feeling... We are all more in tune with our destiny than we probably ever realise.

I have had days like this aswell. Few weeks ago I had one of these days and the voice in my head was saying do not ride. I was stubborn and went on a country ride and sure enough I had my first off.

I highly recommend listening to your inner self.

    Stay safe.

I tend to get it in miniature on most grroup rides, after stopping for the obligatory rests and chats I often take a while to get back in the groove- just feel like staring at scenery and putting along in 2nd.

Also doing enduros, can't seem to turn it on and off like is necessary. Often flog it in the transport section and have switched off by the time I hit special tests- no wonder I never win.

This tends to happen to me too.
Some days I feel so excited to ride as if I'm superman and nothing can go wrong.
Others, I started riding and on the first slow corners I feel like riding an enraged bull. I won't turn back and drive though, but I will ride safer and remember to relax and take it easy.

One night I was on my way to a ride and had a bunch of guys in a shitbox swerve towards me while I was overtaking them, just to freak me out.
It worked. About two streets into the ride I was overthinking everything and embarassed by my extraordinarily shit riding, so I pulled into a driveway in some back streets, made up an excuse about feeling sick, and went home.

Sometimes everything just feels off, and I think on days like those it's fine to call it quits. After all, to me riding is supposed to be fun, and if I'm not finding it fun because I'm twitchy or feeling odd, then it defeats the purpose.

I felt the sameway when I was on my L's. Was on the freeway going to Rockingham with a shadow. I was pretty confident by that point as I'd done a fair few lessons and had a few hours under my belt. We stopped in the emergency lane because one of the mirrors had come loose, and a couple of bogans in a ss pretended to swerve into the lane to hit us....I couldn't ride properly for the rest of the day, felt like I was swerving all over the road and couldn't keep the bike steady. More recently I've lost the excitement of riding around Perth during the week, too many dickheads in vehicles not paying enough attention. The only time I really enjoy riding now is on the weekends in the hills or along the coast. The less cars the better

Yeah, makes you wish you had something handy to throw at them, doesn't it?
