    Stalling in Gear

Please excuse the retard question. Ive never ridden before and am asking out of curiosity!

Ive had a bike now for a week and have been itching to ride. Whats stopping me is that id have to teach myself. So my question is, if you stall in gear (3rd, 4th, whatever...) does the bike roll to a stop or do the wheels lock up and the rider goes for a dive? I think its the latter and have decided to wait for my first lesson tomorrow morning. haha. then i can mess around by myself...

If the clutch is out then yes the wheels will lock up.
But its almost impossible to stall while riding, and to do so would be an amazing achievement.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Then you can mess around on private property . If you go out and mess around by yourself on public roads and come unstuck and plow into say... a BMW M5, then you'll be paying that off for a while. Remember, until you're licenced, no insurance will cover any damage you cause unless you are legally being shadowed.

Yeh i know, I live in a nice little quiet suburb (Ashby), where there are still empty blocks where houses arnt built yet etc. So i can just ride up and down my street. They're basically deserted roads!

improper engine compression braking, stalling, excessive rear braking will result in your REAR wheels locking up and you losing balance / possibly low-siding so i'd watch the rear end of the bike rather than the front when you are learning throttle/clutch control.

Saying that i highly recommend getting an instructor at least for 1 or two lessons even if you decide to teach yourself on a paddock, they will teach you things you will never pick up by your own
