Sumoto?
Anyone heard or better yet, bought from Sumoto before in vic? They have 08 compliance RR's and tonnes of em and do free shipping oz wide.
Here is a good example:
Search Motorbikes For Sale – Sumoto World of 250's - Powered by BikePoint.com.au
They will do the colour scheme of your choice on a bike. Sounds a lil too good to be true. Anyone heard of this mob before?
edit: just googled, it horror stories abound, forget it

That's quite surprising (horror stories) - they usually have a big spread in motorcycle trader so i'd have labelled them as legit.
Then again, i've never bought any of their stuff.

Take a 20 year old bike that's been sitting around a warehouse for years, give it a shiny paintjob, get creative with the odometer, then sell to n00bs at crazy inflated prices and offer shitty after sale service.
It's like selling a "2008" EA falcon, except that people are actually dumb enough to fall for it.

You would occasionally find a gem but on the flipside there'll be quite a few with just an expensive paint job. If you want to go down that path you're probably better off with MotoMax as they are at least local and can test ride the bike before you buy.
Must admit I got lucky with my bike from motomax. I've had it for 1.5 years and haven't spent a cent on it (except for oil/filter) and it's been running like a dream.
Hit and miss I guess.

Stay away would be my advice. Living in Melbourne I heard many of the horror stories first hand . I actually went in there looking for my first 250 and left very, very quickly.
Quick search of Netrider for "sumoto" will give you more than enough info.

I went to Melbourne earlier this year and decided that I would make time to find Sumoto and have a look at the stock they had incase they had something that would be suitable for learners.
They had maybe 20 bikes in their showroom. It was dissapointing as they always advertise they have hundreds of bikes in stock.
I asked if they had any bikes elsewhere and was told that was the only stock they had.
Although there is a few people in melb that will custom make you a leather jacket. I though that was pretty trendy

sounds wise.
No, I've never heard much good about sumoto at all. They only continue to exist because they prey on n00bs.

First thing i read when i started to look for a bike was to be careful at the grey imports with shiny colours and low odometers, i still dont know how some people think that 16 year old bike has 9k on it?
Screw this thieves.

I've heard lots of bad stories about Sumoto when I lived there, but I also know people who bought their first bike there and it turned out ok. Beware when buying from Perth - they will charge $1000 for delivery to Perth (because of distance) and will ask for $500 up-front (before and outside of their finance). Also be thankful you're not relying on them for your first service and, like most bike shops - the gear you get in the package is very basic. Whilst they can mix'n'match (ie, "I want boots, not gloves"), they're not especially receptive to it.

Tiger Angel Tiger Angel Motorcycle Apparel in North Melbourne make the best jackets (imho). You get to design the jacket yourself on the website (in terms of which piece is which colour) based on one of their designs, or you can bring in your own decal and they can give you something cool on the back of the jacket, etc.
Should you ever scuff a piece of your jacket they can replace just that piece for you (would probably have to get the jacket back to Melbourne, but still).

Sumoto have a bad rep, bit like that backyard panel beater your cousins mates brother's gf said lives three houses down from her grandparents place.
Quick coat of paint, dont worry about the decaying fuel and brake lines a noob wont know any better.

I'd hope that's not a real question given the amount of rip-offs coming out of china & the greater internet.
If it's too good to be true....

Hey mate, We travelled to vic to chk out sumoto. All it was old bikes new fearings. Painted to your delight. Not worth it in our eyes. Not bagging the company but buy local its easier and you can see and ride what your getting.Cheers
