If you do go for a private sale, remember you can knock down the price a little if you have cash in hand, and get it checked out by a mechanic (some will drop by and check them out for you).

I got an offer for a 2010 Kawasaki Ninja 250R for $7,600 do you think i should take it or what do you think i should try to move the price down to? Any suggestions? Because from what i've been looking for the Ninja has everything im looking for. So i've decided that thats the bike i'd like to purchase.

Any help with the pricing or what i should do?

    Thanks for all the responses.

CBR is carburetted, whilst im fairly certain the ninja is fuel injected, which will mean the ninja will have a better fuel economy, start first thing every morning etc.[/QUOTE=Butters ;1832911]

    nope, ninja is carby too

personally if i had LAMS as an option i wouldn't be looking at a ninja 250, the suzuki GS500 and several others have the same power to weight hence the LAMS approval but have many other advantages as far as stability on rough roads or travelling in crosswinds etc a bit of weight can really smooth out the ride, not too heavy of course since you will be learning so maybe not the 883 harley sportster lol.
BTW a GS500 is only $500 more than the ninja and you will be able to enjoy it well beyond the learning period.

ive recently been down this road dude....so my 2c
bought a new 09 ninja. went to the heavens in mods - exhuast, rejet, clip on handle bars etc to make it more sporty. from my point of view they look the part yes, but their seating position is that of a tourer - closer to a gs500. ive only skimmed over your posts but i assume you want a sportsbike - if its for the seating position the ninja really lacks here.
    forget migelli!
    hyosungs are questionalbe too.
i traded up for an aprilia rs125, but that is a two stroke which are not completely learner friendly. i did this because it is a sportsbike - low handlebars, high seat and all the components you'd expect on a big bike. and similar power to the ninja.
yes look at 600s that have been restricted for ls like the sv650f and even the gsx600 from suzuki - also as suggested kwaka do quite a few restricted entries. just dont forget you still get the same power of a 250 (more torque obviously) but in a heavier chasis...
i really like the honda cb400 - dual front discs and all the perks, but it is a naked bike with a high seating position.

out of your bunch - the kwaka...

If you must buy a Ninja 250R, buy second hand, there's some really good ones floating around, already been run in for you and you save at least 1 or 2K in depreciation.

I'd still recommend the older inline 4's like the Suzuki Across, Honda CBR250RR and the Kawasaki ZXR250

$4K should get you one in good condition second hand without too many Ks on the clock, also if you don't have much mechanical knowledge in bikes, i'd suggest bringing a mechanic friend with you to help you check out the bike.

I started on a Suzuki Across for my L's and P's and I absolutely loved it, the best thing was the boot, was fantastic for commuting to and from school everyday.
I rode the Ninja 250R a few months back and I absolutely hated it, i mean i looks great but it really suprised me with the majorly upright seating position and sluggish performance (well this was because I had been riding a fastest bike). Now I'm on a RGV250, and two strokes aren't exactly learner friendly so I wouldn't recommend getting one but yeah.. just wanted to briefly share my experience

If I had to do my L's and P's again, I would definitely get a a Suzuki Across.. again

edit: plus you can easily pick up an Across for around $3K in really good nic so yeah..
first thing i'd do is put a slip on exhaust on it, I had a Roo Racing carbon fibre and it sounded purrry, took a little while but once i was used to the noise, it was lovely

i only suggest the GS500 for the price and all round stability, i regularly ride my wifes vtr250 and friends 250r and find the brakes don't pull up as well as the GS500's i've ridden, the gsx600 would be similar i guess but i have never ridden one.
Yes same power to weight as the 250 (not same power) but definitely more torque and you don't get stuck with skinny tyres

indeed a good suggestion filbert. apparently stick a can and change the sprockets on the gs500 and youve got yourself a good bike, too bad they look so bland and the fairing version, if you squint your eyes from a distance it looks like a gixxer. when it pulls up closer you realise its a boat!
sorry yeah i meant power to weight, rather than power.
skinny tyres are probably one of the worst features on the ninja - poeple chuck 150s on the back with the loss of flickability and run the chance of the occasional scrub on the swingarm.
