Reeled off a perfect set of O turns. Given the instructor told me to take up the entire width of the road instead of doing them on full lock. If you can O turn on a 50cc scooter, a cibby is a cinch.
MY first brake attempt, I stopped at about 9 metres but locked the back wheel for the last 18 inches. Second attempt I fubared completely as I didn't know why I was being sent a second time around.
Now I have to wait untill august for another attempt. I think i'll have forgotten how to ride by then. Stinking system.

Dude, same thing happened to me. Would've passed if it weren't for the stinkin e-stop (hadn't had any opportunity to practice them at all...). Thing is I called up 30 minutes later and booked a test two days after that, which I passed

passed R-e first time though (cb250 is piss easy to ride)
i've only ever locked the back up once and that was in the wet - tell you the truth i dont like using alot of rear brake, i feel it make the bike a little twitchy under hard braking.
I did fail my R-n first time though - kept putting my foot down, figure 8's on a hill on a 50cc scooter is not as easy as it sounds (specially when your 15) so much easier with a clutch...

Failed my R-E first time, road thru road works at normal speed, there wasnt any works being done just the signs up but I was failed anyway, but I did do wrong so I deserved to fail.
when I did the big test the guy was in a bad mood, made me do 10+ figure "O" had a go at me after the test for riding to close to right line, was real nasty about it too at the front door of kelmscott centre, after he had his rant I asked him if I passed he said yer but just, so I went and did the paperwork, as I walked out he passed me again with a smirk on his face so I whispered C**T to him which he heard, walked out to bike, took of L plate and rode off. My poor instructor just followed me up Roe highway and waved as he turned off

So what's the system, how many points can you lose without failing the test?
How many points does a foot down on a O-turn cost you?

For that it is not so much costing 'points' but if you can't do 3 without putting your foot down you fail.

You get to lose 3 and 3/4 points. As stated if you put your foot down 2 or more times ( some assessors only allow 2 times ) you will get a technical fail.

I do appreciate the excuses for failing, grand levity. If your still alive after riding daily for 1 year post exam, then you pass.

If you can do o turns you can most probably do figure eights without a hassle.
Turning right is more difficult (well certainly so on a sports bike) due to the location of the throttle and fuel tank..
All it is, is a demonstration of the ability to maintain balance and control at low speed, the manouvre itself isn't a life saver, as stated.
I got marked down for a couple of things on my RE - "failing to proceed when safe" (stupid me, i was waiting for a bigger gap so that my instructor wouldn't get left behind; not supposed to worry about him in hindsight, but anyway) and I didn't head-check a railroad track (saw there was no trains coming, but yeah... pinged for not moving my head).
Didn't fail though.
edit:
To the dude (revelations?) doing his o-turns in second gear. Why? Learn the clutch control required in first...
Not sure if you'll get failed for it, but its not necessary - if I was an assessor, all it is telling me is that you don't have enough fine clutch control to deal with the friction point properly in first (ie, if it was up to *me* i'd fail you on it). Yes, doing them in second might be "easier". That's not really the point

Flybot, you should really be aiming for a clean sheet m8, headchecks, road position, speed, indication, emergency stops, O turns. These should be all second nature to you before you attempt your test or you may just be wasting your time and money. Personally i think peeps look at doing your test in the wrong way.... it is to save your own life in the future, your test instructor already has his licence

^^ yeah, what he said.
you should be going for the test when your instructor reckons you're ready and you know how to ride - not really when you reckon you might be able to scrape by only failing a few points.
if you can't reliably do o-turns without putting feet down - practice more.

My mum just failed her R-E's
She says her test was perfect but "blamed" her bike for being unable to complete a half decent emergency stop (she went over double the distance 5 tries in a row!).
