Thumbs up Introducing Matthew Kuhne (Updated with A Donation from MAD!)

Hey Peeps,

I'd like to make a quick post about a young guy that The M.A.D Ride charity is helping to support this year.

For those who haven't heard of Gold Coast rider, young Matty Kuhne, may i suggest that the best way to hear his story is to watch this piece from channel 9's A Current Affair which was aired a few weeks ago:

Matt Kuhne - ninemsn Video

And this piece from The West

Young motorcyclist determined to recover - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

Matt is an inspiring young guy with a massive heart who is on the comeback trail after a devastating racing accident left him with severe spinal injuries. Matt is the youngest Australian to compete in a world Motorcycle Grand Prix, had landed a 125 Moto GP ride, and was gearing up for a monumental 2007 before a bad crash cut his season short.

M.A.D Inc. is honoured and privileged to join Matt on his journey to recovery and hopes that 2008 will be filled with success and challenges overcome.

I assure you that you will be hearing more about this talented and courageous young man over the next few months as The MAD Team unveils its fund-raising activities for the year.

The committee is flat out behind the scenes planning and scheming all sorts of exciting stuff for 2008.

So before we announce what's happening with MAD this year I'd like to introduce to you, The Matt Attack, Matthew Kuhne.

A true blue Aussie Battler! Good onya mate!

Hey Everyone,

I just thought you all might like to know that, yesterday, MAD Inc. donated ten thousand dollars to Project Walk California 100% of which will be used to help rehabilitate The Matt Attack, young Matthew Kuhne.

Project Walk is a specialised spinal injury rehab centre and isn't cheap. Matt has been accepted into their program, as he mentioned in his 'A Current Affair' segment.

So far, Matt has managed to substantially increase his core muscle strength which has led him to being free of certain types of back and abdominal braces that help him to breathe and stay sitting upright, for someone with his level of injuries this is no small achievement.

I swapped some emails with Matt during the week and he is currently preparing himself for round 2 of his rehab in the States. He is feeling hopeful and confidant that the Project Walk program will actually get him closer to his ultimate goal, to walk again.

So, i would like you all, good members of PSB and the MAD Committee to stop for a moment and pat yourselves on the back and realise that through your generosity of spirit and donations of time and money all of us here at PSB and MAD have indeed Made A Difference.

We have provided hope and relief to a young man and his family that perhaps he will one day overcome his injuries and reach his goal to walk again.

I know that for me, after 4 years of effort with MAD it certainly makes it all worth it.

So good luck to Matthew Kuhne with his grand adventure in the US, i hope it all goes well for you mate and if you read this buddy, MAD is proud to be associated with you and your family, keep up the awesome work and pop in now and again and keep us updated.

Since his return from the first round of Rehab at Project Walk Matt has been involved in Wheelchair rugby and basketball, maybe we should have a chat to Darren at DreamFit and see if we cant get him on a modified CBR250, although Matts Mum and Dad might kill us...

Good luck Matty. Travel Safe and show those Californians what true Aussie Determination really is.

Go get em champ.

PS: Part Proceeds from the up and coming MAD Raffle (shhhh, you all know its a secret) will also be used to help Matt along at Project walk. So watch this space. (and buy lots of tickets!)
