People Of PSB. An Annoucement from The Chairman of MAD Inc.
Ok!
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Some serious faces please!
The MAD Committee has an announcement to make.
As of today the 1st Of April 2008, PSB member Dingo, AKA Simon, AKA Dingo, AKA The Voice of Reason, will be the new Chairman of the Making A Difference Ride Association.
I'd like you to all join with me in offering our congratulations to Dingo for having the courage and the spirit to take on this job, its not easy and it is highly demanding in terms of time and energy.
I have been privileged and Honoured to have led the MAD Ride Charity from its beginning and over the last 3 years during which time we have achieved incredible things and raised an absolute truck load of money for our most important of causes.
It is with some sadness that i have to step back from the chair of the MAD Ride as it is something i am extremely proud of and an activity that I enjoy immensely, however the demands upon my time have grown these last 18 months and i feel that i am no longer able to offer MAD the time and energy it deserves.
I feel like a parent who's child is all grown up and the time has come for him to go to his first school ball with a hot chick, a bottle of scotch and dads brand new car. Worried to see it go would be an understatement! (I am never having daughters for this reason.)
I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank, from the bottom of my heart, ALL the people who have helped take MAD from the idea we had 3 years ago to the place we are now, internationally recognised, supported by the World Champion Moto GP rider and capable of things we only every joked about doing. You know who you all are. Champions the lot of you, ive said it before and i'll say it now, you humble me.
The upside is that I have no hesitation whatsoever in supporting Simon as our new Chairman and wholeheartedly believe that he is the right man for the job, Simon has been there, the entire time MAD has existed, quietly working away, making things happen and doing a bloody good job of it. I can honestly say that there is no better man for the job than our Dingo and i am pleased as punch to know that my baby is in such capable hands.
I tip my hat to you sir.
I am excited about all the new ideas and energies Simon and his new commitee will bring to our fund raising activities and i assure all who read this that 2008 will be MAD's most successful year yet, kicking off with Nath's Dyno Run Session this coming weekend.
So, as of today i am officially stepping down as Chair to a lowly back bencher and handing over the reigns of this racing Stage Coach to Simon.
I wish him success and fulfilment as the new leader of the charity and its funds and i know that PSB, as always, will be right behind him to give him a hand as the years activities unfold.
I'll still be floating about the MAD Meetings breathing down peoples necks and casting strange looks at people as they suggest we print stubbie holders as part of our merchandise, perhaps now that i have been deposed, that nasty piece of naffness will see the light of day! (Not while there's a breath in my body).
Anyway, ALL HAIL DINGO! He is our new Benevolent Leader of MAD and it is without further adieu that he is officially recognised as the Chairman of MAD Inc. He is elected unanimously and without objection by the core Association Committee Members.
Good on ya mate, it takes a special sort of person to step up in the way you have.
I'd like to hand you over to Chairman Dingo and i will let him announce the activities that MAD will be running this year.
As Big Kev used to say, I'M EXCITED! (especially about the upcoming Bike Raffle, PSB, watch out!)
Heeerrrrrrrrreesssss SIMON!
-APPLAUSE-
Dingo, The Man Himself.

Thanks Chris. Let me be the first to congratulate you in the phenomenal effort and work you have put into making the MAD Foundation what it is today. Your vision, drive, enthusiasm and energy has been endless and it is these characteristics of yours which have helped drive what we have been able to donate from $10,000 in 2005 to being over $60,000 for our 2007 activities whilst maintaining a sizeable cash reserve to start 2008. Once again our main benefactors will be The Sir George Bedbrook Fund for Patient Welfare at Shenton Park Rehabilitation Hospital, and REDS Spinal Cord Laboratory at UWA, with each to receive $25,000. Inspirational young Matt Kuhne will receive $10,000 towards his goal of being able to walk again by attending the intensive “Project Walk” program in the United States. The Paraplegic Benefit Fund have also received a sizeable donation towards the work they are doing in helping spinal injury survivors once their time in hospital is completed. You have left some big boots to fill Chris, and I look forward to putting them on and stepping forward.
It is a great honour to be your MAD chairman for what promises to be a very exciting year in our growth. 2008 will be a huge year and I can’t wait to share all the details of what we have planned as the year progresses.
What I can announce tonight is our vision for the future. Operating under the name Project 2012 (twenty twelve), the Making A Difference Ride Foundation is aiming to establish an intensive spinal injury rehabilitation centre here in Perth by the year 2012.
Helping us achieve that goal will see some new and exciting events in 2008 as well as the return of our favourites. These events will include an exciting new raffle where the winner gets the keys to not “just a bike” but a full blown race team setup including everything needed to get you on the track! Just as MAD makes dreams reality for the spinal injury patients of Perth, we want to continue to fulfill the dreams of our supporters as well . Of course this is only the first of our raffles for the year, with the return of a very popular bike now wearing the #1 plate being unveiled in the 3rd quarter of this year . Other events are planned over the course of this year, but will climax as always with the MAD ride in the last quarter of this year.
MAD is all about people, all our volunteers who contribute countless hours selflessly to make things happen, the patients and families whose lives we make a difference in and finally yourselves, the motorbike enthusiasts of Western Australia for supporting us in all our activities. This support gives me great energy and enthusiasm as I tackle the role of MAD Chairman and it is great to have you all on board for 2008.

Congratulations Simon, Chris and the entire committee. The work that has been put forth is no small feat. I have utmost respect for all in the MAD committee for making it grow into what is has now. With only the spare time you could scrounge up, this is an amazing charity.

Grats, dude. MAD is in very capable hands.
And big ups to Chris, for taking MAD from an idea to what it is. The hardest part is to get something started, and MAD now has a solid base to continue on from. Well done.
