    *solved* lift from Pemberton to Northcliffe or reverse.( Bibbulman track)

    Just thought I would throw this out to the PSB community.

    Between Christmas and new year I (and friend) intend to walk from Pemberton to Northcliffe on the bibbulmun track.

    After driving down we need to walk away from our car and get a lift back, or get a lift away from the car and walk back to it.

    I will be calling the local tourist bureaus to see if there are any services tomorrow, but thought I would ask the question

    For anyone who was at the jerky comp, my walking partner is Ray (the older guy playing music).

    Also if anyone is interested in joining a 3 day walk, lets talk.

    Please post daily reports.

    As much as the offer is appreciated (and that's lots&lots), the fact that you are Perth based made me realise (facepalm) that both Ray and I could drive down dropping one car off on the way.

    This was something I hadn't even thought of

    How bad are the legs? Ray will set the pace, and he is 76 (and probably fitter than me). My alarm is set early for tomorrow, backpack has 5 litres of water in it for the initial legs are made for walking shock

    Mate if you decide to just take 1 car and you need a lift, I may be able to help depending on when you need it. Being in busso makes it a nice drive compared to Perth.

    Legs are good for half a kilometre, then I turn into a penguin as one was reset a bit askew so I aint walking. However the offer stands as the wife is working between Xmas/New year.
    As long as it's after boxing day and home by new years eve, happy to do it, love the south west.

    OK, its time for me to talk to Ray, as initially it was his walk

    He had to make a few changes due to me coming, and its a joint effort to make it work.

    Considering I was only fishing for members in the towns mentioned, and expected no reply;
    Thank You

    ^^ This. I have done this before. Worst case scenario is you can catch a bus, or some of the tourist bureaus have numbers for people who will drop you off for a fee.

    Have fun! How many days/km's are you planning to do? I'm jealous!

    I'd love to come with you. But I cannot. I maintain a section of track and one of the shelters.

    Just got off the phone to the tourist bureau and everything is suddenly a lot simpler

    Get to Northcliffe by 10.55am and catch bus to Pemberton ($7.50).
    Leave Pemberton 11.30am and walk 19klms to first camp.

    Now to start getting organised on what to carry.

    May change the title of thread.

    I may take you up on that.
    I have done some of the track in the past, but never more than 2 days at once. (and this was a couple of years back)

    More importantly, do you know if the water tanks at the Warren and Schaffer huts are OK?

    Sorry I don't know about the water tanks down there but click HERE or ring 9481 0551 and ask to speak to Gwen, she will know I'm sure.

    Website says don't rely on the water tanks (as they have to), and cant ring as they are closed for the break.

    We have decided to start next Thursday.

    Shit just got real
    I have one week to turn from a 'couch potato' into a 'fat mean whinging machine'

    Got home, weigh in; 99.8kg
    I then put 6kg in the backpack, 110mins later we have 10.7klms (mytracks recorded).

    Yep, I can do this.

    Will be posting up a half day walk (in the loop) ending at Kalamunda pub next Monday or Tuesday, once I'm organised, all welcome

    Just for closure, I will update this thread.

    A few conditioning road walks culminating in a walk back to kalamunda on the bibbulmun from 13 klms out on a hot day was the total preparation.

    What was meant to happen;

    Day 1 was drive to Northcliffe and walk 17klms to the first hut
    Day 2 was a 'full on' walk to the second hut
    Day 3 was a shorter walk to Pemberton and catching the bus back to the car.

    What happened

    Day 1 meant to be a drive to Northcliffe and a 17klm walk to the first hut.
    Less than 1klm from the first hut my walking friend (Ray) had a fall and due to the fact he had a radio in his shirt pocket, cracked a rib.
    Day 2 we decided to avoid the harder walk intended for day 2, and retraced our steps 17klm back to the car.

    Leaving Northcliffe;

    I'm the one with less gray. (and fat)

    Things;

    I have decided that I will complete the whole track (over time)
    So far I have (in stages) done from Kalamunda to Brookton Highway, and Sullivan rock to north dandalup and this short section near Northcliffe.

    Top stuff, great to see such a distinguished gentleman out there giving it a shot (and you too Cliff )

    Hope Ray's rib heals ok, give me a few weeks to get my stuff together, then if you want some company on a weekend, give me a hoy
    In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

    Buy my stuff, everything now half price - http://www.perthstreetbikes.com/foru...woofer-144818/

    LOL
    I walked from Kalamunda to mundaring weir with ray on his first track walk 5 or more years ago. His goal was to complete the track before he turned 71.

    He has now done it 4 times (thats 4 times 990klms).

    Will let you know of any walks intended, but I am thinking about taking an extra day off at the Aust day weekend and doing a walk.

    Maybe its time to start a thread of 'planned bushwalks'
