    3g & ADSL routers

Does anyone have any experience with routers that have the ability to work off of normal ADSL and 3g

The Billion 7402GX is top of my list at the moment. It does exactly what i'm after. But as its $330, I just thought i'd check to see if there are any other or better alternatives.

    cheers.

i believe draytek have routers that will do what you want. chances are they will be more expensive, but thats cause they are better than the rubbish billion produce.

Nah not really. At the end of the day i'll spend what I need to. I just want something that works.

^^ really depends what you need it for.

    Any feature list you require?

Do you require it to be able to multi-home your business (and provide automatic failover), or is the 3G+dsl requirement merely so you can move it from one location to another or have a manual failover arrangement?
    stuff

Yeah manual fail over is fine.

The Billion one (and i believe the Draytek too) has the advantage of accepting the 3g modems in USB guise rather than only the Express Cards. This would mean that in the event of an ADSL failure, any of our users could just chuck their 3G USB stick into it.

+1 for the drayteks. Best on the market. 3G works very well.

I don't know about 3g, but I bought a Billion ADSL2+ wireless router a while back. Great price, works really well, and they have an excellent customer forum to help with any technical issues.

I had a problem with the VOIP function causing echo's. Turns out that my particular cordless phone causes problems, and lots of other people had the same issue. The forum helped me sort it out without having to directly contact the company. Very handy.
No amount of genius can overcome a preoccupation to detail.

I have the Draytek 2800 & the 3g feature is one of the reasons I bought it.

Haven't got around to installing it yet tho, need ta get me a 3g dongle.

It does have a somewhat limited port forwarding table (can't take a lot of rules); for me this could be a prob as my current router has about 20 in it.

    Nice piece of kit tho.
.. and thats Racer # 193 to y'all; my fabulous sponsors (who all do good shit) are: Graeme Fleming IT Consultants, Vision Image, Pacific Safety Wear, Excess Power Equipment, Pro Photo Booth, Canning Vale Travel, Gryphon Garage Doors

.. and according to Sean'o: 'get the Kwaka (never thought i would say that!)'

I think it's limited to 10. Are all these forwards to the one PC?

Oh and a look at the demo setup page is here.

The billion is a fairly new product from them I think, so I would expect a few bugs in the firmware. The great thing about the billion forum is you can bring up a firmware issue and actually expect to see it resolved (or read about an issue there and decide the modem won't suit your needs until that is fixed).
