    Any milliners here?

I'm hoping someone can save me the drama of sending my new hat back by giving me some advice.
Sal ordered me an Akubra for Christmas so we took the tape and measured my head, it was a bit over 62, so we ordered a 63.
Now I am a bit of a blockhead (hence the 62) and the hat seems to fit snug on the front and back of my head, but is pretty loose around the sides.
It'll also fall off if I tilt my head downwards (or if I was in the wind I guess), I have have had a good Google around (would you believe there is a hat forum?) and it should shrink down about 1/2 a size with wearing in.
Do you think it will snug up nicely or am I better off just swapping it over for the next size down?
Living in the middle of nowhere does have it's downfalls sometimes.

oh Desmo, you're the manliest man ever. I aspire to be more like you.

(instead of shrinking the hat, inflating your head would work too, yeah?)
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

Dude, it's far too big as it is. I see no benefit in inflating it further for the cost of a $120 hat, regardless of how good said hat is.

My Akubra that I've had for years, after several dunkungs and time jammed under the seat of my car has shrunk so as it barely fits now.
I reckon the shrinkage rate is pretty high.

Also, the wire rope around the inside of the hat rusted and frayed, casusing the frayed bits to dig into my forehead. I removed it with a pair of pliers
It's better to be thought stupid than open your mouth and remove all doubt

Pure speed in sixth gear on a 5,000 foot straightaway is one thing, but pure speed in third gear on a gravel-strewn, downhill, ess turn is quite another.

Felt will dry to shape. So wet it, jam it on your noggin, and go to sleep in a hammock somewhere with it on. The leather band inside will shrink too, from head sweat. IT does take a while.

Fez has a Stetson. Will post a pic of it later.

Strips of adhesive sponge/foam (like window/door weather seal) placed under the band inside the hat will firm up the fit.

Remove it when the hat shrinks.
