Have you got the latest version? They recently did a major change and are not supporting the previous free one. You need to be running 7.5.

Usually it just needs a reboot of the PC to finish the update. If you hover over the grey/black icon in the task bar it should tell you what is wrong.
Adventure before Dementia
this is what I get when I hover over it pc has been rebooted too
Anti Virus: Internal Virus Data Base is out of date
yet I updated it and it tells me I have all the recent updates so its got me stuffed.

Yup, mine had a major update last night, required a reboot. Now all is well again.
edit: read your reply. Sometimes it has a spaz because the virus database is more than a week old, and a new one hasn't been released yet. Just give it a day or 2, and it will update to a new one.

OK, my 7.5 had a spaz attack the other day and refused to update. Read the FAQ and it suggested a reinstall/repair.
Fixed it up perfectly.
