    Back Problems- Chiro

    Hey Guys,
Slightly O/T, and apologies. MOD move if warranted.

Ive had occasional back problems for years- generally upper back, but recently, largely due to a bung seat (lumbar support) in my car, its really been acting up. (this is where it relates to bikes).
As a result, I find riding my R6 much much more comfortable than any thing else.
If I could get the R6 up the steps in my house, I'd be typing this from the bike, as sitting in my chair is agony.
I [did not] pulled the bike out and use it exclusively for over 2 weeks, and the problem went away, but after having to pick my dog up when he had an epileptic fit, Its borked again.
And I might add, after riding the R6, the Hyo seating possie sux.

Seeing as a few of the guys on here seem to have back issues, I figured that your the best place to ask the question: Does anyone know a good Chiro? (everyone I talk to either has someone in mind which is crap, or doesn't believe in it at all)
I'm looking for someone very tall, and preferably over 90Kg, who know what he's doing. (Needs to be tall for leverage, and large for power.)
My ex chiro, was ex forces from another country, who was built like a brick $H at over 6'2". He could easily adjust my back, and never had an issue, but has since had a stroke, and sold his practice, to someone small, and weak. (IE: Cant adjust).

So I reiterate; does anyone know a good chiro?

    Thanks peeps,

and ill finish off with the obligatory:

    cool story bro...

I had lower back problems (disc protrusion) and went to the back and neck clinic in Cannington for 4 months, 3 times a week for minimal relief.. Xrays, CT scans, nerve root injections the lot. Was referred by a friend to YAKSICH Osteopathic Clinics WA and after 4 visits I was off pain killers, and had my life back.

Have referred a few friends since and they are all fans of the Yaksich brothers.

many physiotherapists are dodgy, go see a chiro...

Heard good things about the one opposite Belmont forum (think his name is Aaron and is fairly chunky)... best thing is to go to someone near work / home, that way they're never too far away...
Previously i've gone to the Murdoch Uni ones... gives them a chance to practice, and they usually have a senior with them anyway

Chiropractic theory is rooted in the notions of Daniel David Palmer, a grocer and "magnetic healer" who postulated that the basic cause of disease was interference with the body's nerve supply. Approximately a hundred years ago, he concluded that "A subluxated vertebrae . . . is the cause of 95 percent of all diseases. . . . The other five percent is caused by displaced joints other than those of the vertebral column."

Unlike you I feel the occasional urge to steer people away from quacks and toward science-based medicine.

    Like I said...

He's used Chiros in the past and is obviously happy with the results...

I believe he maybe able to make an informed decision from that experience...

.. might also pay to take a look at MyoFascial Therapy if you can't get a good chiro.

Years ago I knew someone that specialised in helping peeps with whiplash when more traditional approaches failed, she had very good results. It's muscle not skeletal focussed tho; the musculature holds the skeleton in place hence its focus.

    Thanks for all the input.
    Keep it coming!
Yes I did ask for a Chiro, primarily as I had found one which works for me.
I quite frankly don't care what they practice, as long as I feel better!

    Bentley CHiropractic Center.
    Dr. Anita Godden.
i've seen bigger guys come out of her clinic with the usual grimaced look of relief. she is awesome and since starting her own practice she takes more care with her patients.

These guys are brilliant, ask for Peter Bryner
Chiropractor Perth | Acupuncture Perth | Home

People who say only use a chiro not a physio and vice versa are only half correct.
The best treatment is a combination of the two.
Peter does chiro as well as muscle therapy.
He is not one of those chiros that gets you to lie down, has one quick feel of your back and then cracks it.
Last time I went there I had quite a bad neck problem.
After a good time checking it out, he said he didnt want to adjust it as the muscles were too tight,
instead he massaged it and used acupunture.
I then came back two days late when he repeated the process and then also adjusted it.
My neck has been great ever since.
Ive had a lot of experience with chiros and Peter is definitely one of the good ones.
    Good Luck!!

Surely the whole point of posting on an open forum is to gauge different viewpoints and opinions.
In my opinion chiropracty has no basis in fact or science. It's a pseudo science "practitioned" by quacks.
I'm with agrid on this one, go see a physio, orthopedist, rheumatologist, osteopath or GP before self medicating. These symptoms could be indicative of a more serious, deep seated issue that could be made worse by having your spine stood on.

EDIT: I'm not trying to be a cock here and I sincerely hope this post doesn't get deleted but if someone posted a thread saying "I have severe stomach issues, where can I buy some pepto-bismol?" everyone would be jumping down their throats to go and at least see a GP.
This case should be no different.

So Jim if someone asked for a good Kawasaki dealer you would tell him he should be going to a Honda dealer because Kwakas are shit?

He is specifically asking for a chiro, not an opinion of whether he should be seeing a chiro or a physio...

South Perth Chiropractor, South Perth WA | South Perth Chiropractic Centre

Dr Brett is the best. He was amazingly thorough. He discovered I had broken my neck that had since reknitted itself, and was the reason for my intense vomit inducing migraines. I was skeptical at first, and especially skeptical after a few adjustements because I felt more in pain than ever. But after the 3 weeks of twice weekly adjustments...I have never felt better. Highley recommended.

He wasnt a pushy chiro, he insisted on educating me first and answered all my questions which was great. I never felt like just another patient in a long line of other patients.

I would call him an idiot for buying a Kawasaki in the first place.
I might also point him towards Derek ball or Kamahl.

EDIT: By dealer I presume you mean mechanic as he is getting "work" done to his body.

The only place I go to when I pop my lower back (L5S1) is Bill Barnes Physiotherapy in Kalamunda.

Bill isn’t a big guy, and he isn’t a chiro, but he has no problems at all manipulating (cracking and popping) things, if that what they need, to get them back in line.

    Personally, I recon he’s a Legend.

I have found most physios do almost the same job as chiros - they can manipulate your back as part of the treatment. The thing I like about them more however, is that they teach you how to strech any offending muscles out so that you can control the problem to some degree in the future.

For example I have to do certain lower back stretches about 4-5 times a week (properly - 10 mins or more each time) I also have to get on an excercise bike to get them warmed up frequently (running can make things worse). Else everything gets very tight to the point walking hurts, It can also include gut cramps etc. However if it does get that bad again I head back for manipulation / acupuncture (muscle release via needles).
