    BHP employees thread

After realising that there are many BHP employees on PSB and following on from Dirty32's suggestion, this is a thread by BHP people, for BHP people. Feel free to post up where you work, who you work with and whether or not you want visitors.

Not a BHP employee? No doubt you want to be - so current employees feel free to post up BHP related jobs here.

This in no way replaces the current work thread out there - but instead of us cluttering up someone elses thread with our drivel, we'll clutter up this one!

    I'll start:

    BHP - Iron Ore.
Port Hedland, Nelson Point based - OCRS planner.
Visitors welcome - but watch the engineers, they carry rabies and bite.

I'm working at the BHPBIO site in Belmont. I don't work directly for BHP. I work for Ajilon as a business analyst, we look after BHP rail systems among other things.

I've had to travel to PH a fair bit on different projects such as ROS and RGP4/5 but haven't been to the OCRS.

    How's Keato going?

Who are you working for Stoney?
Know a lot of people in QV1 (mostly Chevron and associated Chevron projects) and a lot of people in the design / EPCM game...

Righto - I work for BHP Resourcing, looking after a fair bit at the Port (Ops, Maintenance etc.).
Have a fair bit of experience with Mining / Oil & Gas and Major WA based projects - so if your aptly qualified and experienced and your looking for detail / help with an in, or to speak about specific stuff, feel free to PM me.

Unfortunately, that doesnt mean I can get everyone a job in the mines as a dump truck driver / operator / (insert favourite common first mining role here) etc, etc if you are inexperienced and have only held a job at the local deli etc (with all due respect... Hell, if you own the deli your probably earning more than my bosses)...

Work in Perth, but often in Hedland if you fancy a beer and a chat after hours!

You know Keato? I work with him everyday - he's now the Superintendent for the OCRS, so I deal with him all the time, great bloke - good sense of humour, which is rare in some of the supers I've found. I'm guessing your name is Troy - PM me details and i'll say hello for you if you like...

Off topic...old, but still a tad funny.

Does anyone know what ended up happening with the geological engineer that made the fake planking notice? News articles said that he was stood down, but was he ultimately actually sacked? Or was it a bunch of media huff and the guy was quietly told to STFU?

One owner. Only driven gently on Sundays. Sold to best offer. First to see will buy. Reward offered for safe return. Coming soon to a cinema near you. Available for a limited time only.

My waterbed broke this morning. Oh, I don't have a waterbed. Bugger.

Currently work as a steel detailing draftsman for another company contracted to BHP while I complete my Civil Engineering degree. Which I finish end of 2013, hopefully going to work at BHP as a graduate or for vacation work so if you hear anything on the grapevine would appreciate any help achieving this goal.

Even though i'm on exam break from work, working on detailing up the Nelson Point modules.

I'm a Site Engineer with experience in bulk earthworks, roadworks and oil & gas jobs.... $100m to $1b. I have no relation to BHP whatsoever but I'm more than happy to come here and whore myself out to them in the hope that the right amount of cash and roster/conditions come my way.

If I don't get hired then I'm just going to end up being GM at some other company down the track and you'll be kicking yourself later on, so you should probably just get it over with now and throw a decent offer out at me.

Beachfront's not bad (as long as you're not staying in the dorms).
I spent the first 6 months of this year there.
We've (2 other contractors and I) have just been moved to a house in Cooke Point.

Yeh - I snuck into Haven about a month ago or two ago - its getting damned crowded in there now!

Hahah yeh - I remember this - the story goes that he was sacked - and the young lady that took the photo was handed a written warning.

Funny enough this was taken in Leinster - the place I had just transferred from, so I knew who it was.

Shame they took the negative path with this, they could have gotten some great free publicity and made it a joke.

Hahaha, I like it - trying to get the blowie level of a GM without the correct authorised paperwork.

    Shame on you!

    Hey Wedge,
    Good man!

Unfortunately, we have just finished our Grad & Vac program for our xmas and early 2012 intake.
Had a good time during the interviews, but it was a lot of work... 12 interviews a day etc.

If you'd like, I can let you know when we start advertising for mid year / end of year Vac's again and try and support you in getting a position. The experience you are getting at the moment with the contractor is definitely a good thing and would be looked upon well by our recruiters.

It's actually pretty good, we're paid a meal allowance and fend for ourselves.
We were offered meal tickets but, it's not worth the pissing around.
Generally, I stop past the Rec Club/Seasons/etc for a couple and a feed on the way home.
