1) Set static IPs in the router and on all connected devices
Block the kids IP from accessing Youtube.
2) If you have no interest in youtube, block it all together in the router.

I wouldn't want my kids on myspace either.![]()
How do you connect to the internet? If you have an ADSL router check if that can block domains/IPs. It's password protected so they can't touch it. (Will block all PCs in the house.)

why don't you just limit their bandwidth?
Dialup youtube is not very fun...

Tell 'em to check out PornTube.... you won't have any problems with You Tube after that!
Oh wait!![]()
you can do what a mates family does and have the computer (the young kids don't have lap tops) in the hall way. All I know is that kid is a porn addict ( the year 9) and has been walked in on many many times by his siblings
Maybe upgrade the the internet connection can safe you some dramas and everyone wins, well except you. How much are you paying for interest// whats the limit?
I'd be supervising his use or taking the computer off him. Simple really.
If you block youtube, there are a million other video streaming sites out there.
Start with something easy to get around like that IE fix. Then maybe NetNanny or something a little bit harder. Then user access privilidges or something.
It wont stop your kids from getting on youtube but it will teach them some neat stuff about computers.
just dont take away their X-box =O

If you just want to block it on a single PC edit the hosts file (runs a search for hosts.cf and it will come up, then edit it in notepad), enter in youtube.com and have it resolve to 127.0.0.1 (localhost).
That basically null routes the site.
If you have multiple PCs then yeh, look at doing some filtering in the modem/router.

That is a good point, but make sure that you do it as an admin user, and set the permissions so that your kiddies cant change it
proxies will still work though
.. and an extra thought, run a web server on your home pc and have the index.html say " I TOLD YOU NOT TO GO ON THIS SITE!"
would be epic![]()
