Pancake lens should be here tomorrow. One of my more compulsive purchases of recent times so fingers crossed!![]()

I'll pop this in here for those interested in options for cleaning your sensor, since no-one seems to post in the Nikon thread!

Yeah on sensor cleaning, I rarely do it but have used the copperhill system, but not for a few years so I'm not up to speed on newer systems: I'm pretty anal about lens changing. Only if necessary.
Generally the 1Ds MkIII carries the 70-200 F2.8 IS L, and the 5D II the 28- 70 F 2.8L or the 16-35 F2.8L. Of course, sometimes, lens changes are needed.
Now you may think this a little strange, but when I change lenses, I have a procedure that I hope reduces dust on sensors.
Always in the most sheltered area from any air movement. Indoors in a closed room, in a car, that sort of thing. If in humid environments, camera is in a large plastic press seal bag when moving from areas of changing temperature so the temperature of the camera matches as best as possible, the environment where I am gong to use the camera when it comes out the bag. This includes lens changes and I hate changing a lens in a humid environment.
I sit the lens face down on a flat surface and right beside it is the camera face down resting on the fitted lens. I press the lens release on the camera and give the body a 1/4 turn. On the free lens, right beside, I quarter turn the lens cover. In one movement, I remove the lens cover and lift the body onto the new lens. The other hand then transfers the lens cover to the now free lens.
I try to do this in one movement to minimise the time dust can settle on the open lens. I then have both hands free to rotate the body onto the new lens. The idea being that as the camera body is facing down, and in an area of little air movement, gravity helps and less dust can fall on the sensor.
I started doing this about 8 years ago after watching a Canon technician remove the lens off my 20D during a service with the body lying on its back, inspected it, replaced it, and after that, having dust bunnies like a bison herd until I discovered the Copperhill cleaning system.
Cheers, I might have to give one of these a go as the reviews seem good, and since I have all the other bits I only need to spend $20 on the pen. I used to use the Copperhill method but have been less keen since I put a scratch right the way across the sensor of my old camera. On the bright side it did precipitate an upgrade![]()

I use a similar method re the actual change itself and the calm environment, but I don't worry too much about humidity/tempchanges as I figure the change itself is pretty quick and also while humidity may make the sensor more "sticky" it will also limit the amount of dust flying around in the first place. I've never really had anything more than a few easily cloned spots to contend with, which is handy given my comments to Sventek about not being as keen to use the cleaning method I was using.

Reminds me, I better clean the sensor on the 1Ds ready for its new owner. When they announce themselves![]()

Just throwing this out there, have found some fantastic lectures on photography from b&h. They have one for most styles of photography and contain some awesome info and tips and tricks etc to further your photography.
They all have relatively low views for how awesome they are for advancing your photography.

I don't know about Canons, but with Nikons you just put the file on your memory card, pop it into the camera, and find the relevant menu option.

Yes you can do it like that with Canons too. Or, I think you can do it plugged in via USB and the canon software.

I know, right?
Hoping to get a few more fun dives happening now I'm actually a Divemaster and not training every chance I get.
I've never really been inspired by terrestrial stuff but underwater is truly an amazing world I want to try and capture.
Here's the strobe I'm looking at, plus I'll need a tray, arm and associated bumph. About another ~$900. Ad on another $1100 for the housing and it makes the purchase price of $500 for the camera seem quite reasonable.
