    Car park reconfiguration

At work at the moment I'm tasked with investigating the possibility of reconfiguring the garden out the front of our office and getting bitumen laid for more car parking.

Basically, it would involve a bunch of grass and garden bed (including a couple of bushes and a few small trees) being ripped up, as well as a bit of curbing, and new asphalt being laid in its place, as well as the lines marked for car parking etc. Ideally this would all be done by the same company.

I've looked through yellow pages, and there is a LOT of companies who do car park type work, and I can't think of any real way to slim down the list - so I thought I'd open it up to PSB - does anyone here work for a company that can do this kind of work, or can recommend someone they have used to do this kind of thing?

you need to approach the council for the area and check whether they will allow more parking bays firstly.

Yeah, would agree. Contact local council. Talk to there maintenance/engineering dept, they will likely recommend who they use.

I've got a few contacts, I've just finished up the design and tender for a very similar job converting a small patch of bush at our Belmont office... we have a few preferred small companies for this kind of work

I'll send you a PM tomorrow when I'm in the office...

also, in the meantime... get onto the SAI website and grab the carpark australian standards and do up a few sketches if you haven't already, its really easy and will save you a heap of cash instead of letting another company design it....

You can hire compactors and excavators and trucks and shit if you're going to do it yourself, too...

Or find a company (courtesy of the kind people of PS that can do this shit and ring them up: "Here's my address, we want x more parking bays, GO!" and get on with doing what you're actually paid to do.
