Do you like it? Are you a regular listener, something you close your eyes, lean back and feel, or is it something you "don't mind" if it's being played in the background?
I'm a bit partial to Chopin at the moment, he seems to suit my current mood.

I really can't take too much of it, the closest I get is stuff like this:

Actually now that I think about it, all my favourite music has classical elements....
Edit: Techno version wtf?!
Updated with Classical version.

"In all the human societies we have ever reviewed, in every age and in every state, there has seldom if ever been a shortage of eager young males prepared to kill and die to preserve the security, comfort and prejudices of their elders, and what you call heroism is just an expression of this fact; there is never a scarcity of idiots." -The Culture
Mozart when I'm trying to concentrate on worky stuff - it's so progressively mathematical it slots things in.
Strauss when I'm feeling like floating speedily.
Bach when I'm feeling serious.
Wagner for agro.
Rimsky-Korsakov when I'm masturbating into the bowl of chicken blood...

Bach's Toccata and Fugue does it for me. I like the mathematics of a piece that winds up and then plays itself backwards in a seemless way.
"He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice." Albert Einstein

I'm not a mathematician, never have been, but I have heard there is an intricate beauty and elegance in mathematics (possibly the same beauty and elegance I see in physics and certain of it's theories?), is it true that music, especially classical, has this same beauty in the way it is composed?

Just reading up, and apparently the Fibonacci succession is incorporated into most of his music.
I always was under the impression that music=mathematics=music, but had never actually looked into it.

many classical pieces can be broken down with maths and golden ratios and fibonacci sequences and a whole heap of other maths mumbo jumbo
just like looking at some massive engineering marvel..you can begin to fathom the amount of maths and physics and just everything being able to come together so perfectly to create something amazing.
same goes when you listen to a classical piece. when you listen closely you hear all these notes and harmonies that go together so precisely and perfectly it becomes apparent that there are a heap of amazing underlying systems coming together to create it.
Like it listen to it. Has to suit the moment.
Seen WASO and the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra a number of times and think classical is great - specially when you go somewhere to especially to listen to it (not just as back ground music)... Also seen David Helfgott in concert - was mezmorising...
not really classical but i listen to the String Quartet covers of bands such as Guns n Roses, alot of the songs are softer and do sound quite good. Especially sweet child o mine. i leave it in the background when cooking or something just so im not in silence

hard to say
universal in that it could be said that it is the underlying system for alot of things if not everything
and human construct in that humans have created a language to describe it and to decipher its applications to...well...everything really.
i'd probably go with universal...only we've figured it out and gave it the name 'mathematics'
Whilst liking many styles of music, I have always preferred classical ever since childhood.
Apart from some of the 'really well known' composers, also like others too:
Shostakovich (Gadfly & Jazz suites)
Janacek (Sinfonietta & Taras Bulba)
Saint Saens (Organ Symphony)
Sibelius (Karelia Suite)
Delius (Florida Suite & The First Cuckoo in Spring)
Gershwin (Concerto in F & Rhapsody in Blue)

If you haven't ridden....erm...briskly on a fun road at sunrise on a sunny day, with Ode to Joy echoing in your head, you have a soul made of cold boiled string.
