    corner blocks of land question.

I'm looking at buying an existing house on a corner block of land in success. was wondering would I be allowed to remove a section of fencing and put a gate in so I have side access? I wouldn't be putting a driveway there just want to make getting to my shed a little easier.

    Thanks for the help.

why not ask the council, not psb?

Every council is different, so its normally best just to ask them.

Sometimes even the real estate agent is able to help you out.

I wanted to do this when I built my house as I initially wanted to be able to access my large shed from the side road/end of the shed but after talking to WCC I found I basically had to set the shed back 1.5m and put the fences at a 45 deg angle to allow for vision Decided to forgo it rather than lose ~7m2 of shed space

Karri as you said your not putting a DRIVEWAY in and just want to have better entry/exit through to your shed , you will be fine doing so as long as its neat and matches into the existing fencing .. I have done two side gates in corner blocks , one in my own yard in the pasts and one in a friends yard both times in different shires and the shire was rung and both times told the same thing ( must be neat, matching and not a danger to anyone, no driveway unless approved )

    Must open inwards.

Not putting in driveway makes a non-event the council pretty much
You may even get the ok for another driveway

    definately wot OZY said

putting in proper driveways and especially "crossovers" to council specs can get real expensive

if its really important put it in as part of your sale offer document that it must be "OK" to do and let the real estate agent and owner do all the work for you and make it a subject to satisfactory written advisement by relevant planning / council. Also knock a few $k off the asking price cause thats what you "really want" and this house doesnt have it, but your willing to work with it

now is the best time to find out though, not after you've bought it.
I cant help it if my reality doesnt match your perceptions

Facts are easy enough to get hold of through official channels. PSB brains trust is useful when it has opinion based on experience. Trouble ensues when people post opinion as fact

this is how it is with my local council, gate must open inwards no intrusions onto or modifications to the verge.

for a driveway you have to pay for crossover and have it built to council specification, no driveway = non event.

Yeah thought I'd ask, some people here do know a bit. Will check with council in the future before I pull the fence down. The shed is already offset to the opposite side the fence would be and it has side access through the car port just a bit of a pain having to shuffle cars about. Plenty of room to put inwards opening gates. Thanks for the replies looks like I've discovered my first mod for my house, if I get it that is.

I've got a house on a corner block in Success and got approval to put a shed in the back with gates and a second driveway to the shed. Can't see you having a problem, they are a pretty easy council to get along with.
