Difficutly getting SBS...

So riddle me this.

I can get all the channels, except SBS. (Was working a few weeks ago.)

This is the antenna on the roof.

It's pointed in the correct orientation.
All channels perfect.
No SBS.

I can get SBS with a coat hanger in the lounge room.

Get antenna off roof. Works in lounge room too. (A little bulky behind the couch.)
So, the problem must be the (all of a sudden) the wiring from the wall to the roof.....?
But if it was....why would it only affect SBS.....

Have done the all the re-scan, manual tune crap. But, as above, irrelevant.

Are there gremlins in the roof eating the SBS signal?

Why the fuss about SBS?

I've given up with SBS. I've had the antenna changed and boosters installed. Nothing has worked. Sometimes it comes through loud and clear, other times it's unwatchable. Oddly enough, when I was down in Busselton a few weeks ago SBS was being fed through the cable TV system. It was even borked on that.

I don't get SBS either, I think it is all that wog stuff that is on there with the lingo I don't understand.

Have you got any other electronics running in the background. I cant get channel 7 and its offspring when my computer is running. Have tracked it down to the PSU (corsair). Changing Coax, digital reciever etc didnt help, seems to be solely related to the frequency from the PSU, but cant be bothered replacing it cos I plan to move the Pc away in the near future anyhows..
The PS3 also effects it from time to time, but seems sporadic

Hadn't thought of that......will switch everything else in the house off and see if that makes a difference....

Check your coax connections, if the braid is touching the centre core or they are dirty it will kill your signal strength. Also having unnecessary splitters will drop the signal strength so get rid of them if you don't need them. After that you will need to get a level meter to fine tune the aim of the antenna (connected direct to the antenna on the roof) then move through all the connections to see if something else like a bad cable is causing excess loss when connected

Working for an electrical broadcast wholesaler, we've had reports of HAM radio setups killing off signals for entire blocks of houses. Also, some of the old Hills branded screw and saddle style masthead amplifiers are guilty of throwing out background interference in some areas, there's a possibility that a neighbour may be dropping your signal levels on analogue channels.

Although speaking to the boss, the digimatch DG30 is a Sh*t antenna to begin with... He's not particularly fond of them...

Depends what area and if there are obstructions in the sightline to the transmitter. If you can give me a general idea of the area you can figure out what will be best suited.
