i know there's not a lot of choice out there, but are there any stand outs?

Old man got one off eBay. Was ok. You don't get all the good functionality on other phones though. Could have changed and he did get his off eBay so could be wrong
I'll ask him what brand.
I'm also looking at this.... the Nokia X1-01 or whatever it is looks alright. A lot of those Chinese iphone copies are also dual sim, but also most likely terribly built.
I'm pretty tempted just to run two phones instead though.
Drug dealers? Or merging personal and work phone?

yep, i've been checking out the x1 - probably the best i've found. Super simple phone, battery that lasts about 17 years between charges, fool proof phone and $59 from dick smith. Negative is that it's only 900/1800, not even tri-band, let alone quad band.
I do use mobile email on my blackberry a lot, but i don't use any other smart phone functions really, so would probably not miss it if i moved back to an old school, simple phone.
sadly nothing that interesting- moving o/s for 6-12 months and need to keep my current Telstra sim as well as a local one.
Just make sure they are both active as some dual sim phones can only have 1 sim going at once. Also there is finally an Android one which i believe is dual active. DSE $170 IIRC

yes, of course you can do that but a dual sim phone allows you to have 2 sims active at the one time. It's exactly as if you were carrying two phones around with you. You know, if you want two different numbers - one could be for work and the other personal. Then you can select which one to make a call from.
i want to have my telstra phone on, so i can receive messages from people in Australia and I also want my local sim for local use, but i don't want to have to carry around two phones and I also don't want to have to swap the sim cards a hundred times a day to check each one.
I have three dual sim phones at home, 2 Nokia's and one Dtec which is my phone of preference = all from Thailand, there its standard! BTW graysonline tend to have 2 - 4 sim mobile phones on auction.
Have to say never loaded them up, just have the phones and they "happen" to be dual. Now am a Blackberry convert, if you wanted to have a go at one I have at home.. gimme a PM![]()
I have a Samsung B5702. It has dual standby so both SIMS are active and the battery life is quite good. It's a slide type phone.
While both SIMS are indeed active if you change the 'default' SIM from one to the other the phone has to reboot. You can also
set up times that each SIM is active. The camera is poor (3 MP). I travel international for work and having a SIM card from two
countries is so handy. I can't offer any comparisons to other dual SIM phones though unfortunately.
