    Dyshidrosis

Anyone else got it? Are you getting any treatment for it? What do you think causes it?

For those uneducated - Dyshidrosis is a skin condition, where your hands and feet get covered in tiny itchy blisters. There are several theories as to what brings it on, but there's no concrete answer. Don't do a Google image search as it only shows extreme cases

    Are you washing nappies?

If you're using disposable maybe sensitivity to a powder or ointment.

Can't be that, I've had it for centuries. For me I think it's either stress-related or my body getting pissed off with the heat (hardly had it in the UK), or both.

Ah long term condition would be a different story, I get contact dermatitis from chlorine bleach and certain laundry detergents so didn't seem much of a stretch since you have a baby.

mine clears up with a cortizone cream such as dermaid but that's not really relevant now since its probably a completely different condition

Now that I've gone and had a look... Some mild pics in Google too :p

    Yeah I get it.

Never had any treatment as never had it bad enough to seek medical treatment.

I've never had treatment for it, but the itching is driving me nuts. And unlike that photo I don't pop the blisters - makes the torture much much worse

I get it sometimes and its always started by the heat, i thought it was just heat rash. Mine usually only turns up between my fingers and down the side of my hands.

Funny thing though, since i started working up north in the heat i dont get it anymore, also i could just ignore mine 99% of the time which was good.

Did your sister need to see a dermatologist for the prescription?

Waikiki - definitely heat-related. When I came back for two weeks during Summer (went from -5C at Gatwick to 40C in Perth) my hands turned into cauliflower. It was also a highly stressful time so it could be a combination.

I got it bad 5 years ago. Got told by doc to cut back on cheaper varietys of red wine and stick to the good stuff. Worked for me.

It still flares up if i go overboard.

I used to get it on my feet but never really sought any treatment as it went away pretty rapidly.
    Sorry I can't help!

Consumer Medicines Information - DermAid Soft Cream - myDr.com.au

this is what i use for dermatitis and eczema it is a prescription medication, if you don't want the hassles of going to a GP and getting a referral to a dermatologist etc you can ask to see a the pharmacist at your local chemist and they can prescribe it for you.

Obviously i'm not a dermatologist but i have had very similar symptoms that i self diagnosed as another cause and treated them via this approach and it has worked for me so it doesn't hurt to try
Do you remember the good old days before the internet?

when arguments were only entered into by the physically or intellectually able.
