Well for starters- "open source" that's not open source.

It will only get ICS when the Asus gods gift it to us, no hunting and gathering for us- which also may become an issue when they stop support for it and move on to the next product.

But mostly the open source thing. That's the whole freaking point for me really- I don't particularly want to support Apple with my purchases and they are pretty much the only other manufacturer to look at. I think they have great products but I don't like the locked cage thing they have going.
So at the moment I am running a Gigabyte hybrid laptop for my portable while I wait for someone to make a product in the Tablet category that has what I want. The Asus Transformer Prime was looking good, but now they've locked it they're just as bad as all the rest.

If they are going to lock "Open Source" then we might as well stop calling it Android and start calling it Windows.

Asus have said the Prime will get ICS by the end of this month, so not really sure its something that I would be too worried about myself.
An unlocked bootloader is only good if you are going to hack the hell out of it.
It is a the latest product, soon to be running the latest OS, not really sure why you would need to hack it myself, but then I choose a product for what it offers.
Asus are just trying to stop Fraudulent warranty claims by noobs trying to flash roms and rendering there tablet a door stop.
They will cave in, and do what HTC have done, where you register on a website to say you want the bootloader unlocked, and therefore you cannot make a warranty claim because you fucked up trying to hack a perfectly good product.

asus taiwan have released a statement saying they will provide a bootloader unlocking tool for the transformer prime, but will void your warranty blah blah...

    Good.
Again, its mostly the point of it. It perfectly highlights some of the things that sh*t me today- the safety crap built around everything in our lives to compensate for the stupid people, the way it seems free things are getting packaged and price stickers stuck on and everyones ok with this, and the way big corporations lie their asses off but everyone still believes them.

    For example:
Asus- we will never unlock the bootloader. (and now they are saying they will, although it hasn't happened yet)

Asus: Our tablet has GPS, we advertised this capability in our campaign, but when people discovered it was pretty crappy we overnight "updated" our software and website and pretended it never happened when we surely knew it was crappy well before end users discovered it.

Now I like Asus, and these things aren't major, but they are certainly something to take note of when weighing up their believability.
And if people keep accepting things like open source not being open source because a huge corporation decided to lock it up for profit and control, we wont have open source left.

I don't mean to go on a campaign about it, but I believe these type of sentiments are historically what open source was all about. Free and open to all.

And I may never hack my Tablet, but I would like to know that I could. Ive had to hack some suprising things before, things I never thought I would and conversely have bought other things with the express intention of hacking them but never bothered.
(I don't claim to be a proper hacker btw, just play at it)

Nothing like that for me. I would take it to get looked at under its warranty.

Just recently upgraded to the sensation XL and I love the beats headphones it came with, and its super smooth for a single core but it is 1.5ghz and finally having a rotate animation is cool. I was seriously contemplating getting the nexus for 4.0 but it just too damn big
I can feel my bikes heartbeat, can you feel yours?

I have found this happening to mine after I did the update in December.

Just made it that I dont have to put a pin in so it will reboot back up again.

If you guys think it should be checked under warranty then I should next look into it. Only thing is I bought it outright through All Phones, anyone had dealings with them on these type of matters?

    Peace out
