It's a public forum, a mini 'society' even... You'll get as many haters as supporters - don't take it to heart.

Threads like this, kinda the other way.

My proverbial buzzer gets pushed by any kind of snake oil or essentially "wrong" shit. I don't get quite as excited about it as people seem to think, I'm just not in the habit of bottling the opinion either. I don't submit a post and think "Man, I sure showed that guy who was boss OF THE INTERNETS!", I generally just go about whatever else I happen to be doing.

Not that I'm really trying to justify my replies, I admited on page 1 that I was something of a jerk. I'm going for a walk now. Enjoy.
Admitting to something doesn't excuse it.

And others' may value the OP's advice just like you may value advice on recovery positions etc. You may not think the thread is a valid one but others may. At least the guy is trying to be helpful...

Best cure ever for my sunburn was NZ flax bush.

There is a gum down the bottom when it is split aprt and it was rubbed on. After a while had I a bath and it flaked off. Next morning the burn was gone. Im scottish and sun hates me, I had been on beach all day so it was a bad case.

and you are one that can say that???

why don't you just bugger off and move on to threads you dont personally agree with, rather than just keep dribbling utter tripe and abuse every other member?

    it's getting beyond a joke.

just move on. go to the next thread. you dont NEED to reply with that kind of crap just for the sake of upping your post count or something.

Just to clarify, I wasn't saying that essential oils don't have valid uses - just that they are not worth keeping in a motorcycle 1st aid kit.

+1 for the CPR face mask btw. Good idea.

if you want a natural option for burns, I'd be looking at tea tree oil for it's antiseptic properties, possibly with some sorbeline (spelling?) for moisture, although I'm not sure about using either directly on a serious burn. Lavender does have some soothing properties, but I haven't heard of it being used on burns, more as a general relaxant. For less severe burns, aloevera would be my choice.

Personally I prefer a more mainstream antiseptic burns dressing.

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional, but I do have a physio, a nurse, and a paramedic in my family, so I may or may not have picked some things up over the years.
