    Growing mushrooms

    Hi All,

Is there anyone in Perth who is saavy with growing mushrooms?

I have a family member who is having cancer and there has been great results from taking Yunzhi (Coriolus versicolor) and Ling Zhi supplements.

I am toying with the idea of growing these at home and would like to learn from anyone who has experience in this.

Find out where they grow naturally and replicate the conditions. A lot of mushies grow well in caves. The farms I have been involved in are very concerned about cleanliness/bacteria growth, a high humidity and cool (< 25 degrees celsius) conditions. For magics, look where Brahma cattle have been introduced

On a more serious note iv seen mushroom kits in bunnings, they pretty much just looked like a cardboard box with mulch in it which contained spores, pretty sure all you had to do was keep it in a dark place and keep it moist, they grow really fast, this won't be what your after as I think they where just common edible mushrooms but if you can get spores of the types you want I can't imagine it being to technical to make a kit up

I won one of those kits, followed the instructions and left it in my pantry for a few weeks. The mushies were delicious, best I've ever had I should keep doing it. A box of mushies next to my home brew seems like a worthwhile use of my pantry.

You used to be able to buy mushroom grow bags in the UK.
Similar to a bag of potting mix but full of spores, put it in a dark place, cut the bag open and watch them grow.

    EDIT: Mushroom Kit

I found some information over here on growing medicinal and gourmet mushrooms.

If anyone on PSB is experienced or has your own grow, I will be interested in learning from you. Happy to bring a case of your favorite drop for the help.
