Hi all, in light of Barfridge's recent thread, (and if its in the fitness megathread mods please delete),
Which gym are you at and why?
Recommendations on the gym (likes/dislikes)?
How do you find it equipment wise?
Your level of Gym ability?
Availability of equipment etc. etc.
As far as gym ability goes, im getting there, I have been going fairly hard for almost a year now and am relatively confident that i have the correct form with most of my exercises, and am happy with the way my routines have evolved so far.
Ill start with Bailey's Southern River (was there late last year)
Crazy busy at peak times (obviously),
Started going here for convenience and the large cardio deck which was fine but not good for weights IMO
Fairly new equipment but too many annoyances, noone packing up their weights, no gym etiquette at all and like i said no idea how to do exercises correctly, a crazy PT who was annoying.
I would say it has fairly good group classes, but is overpriced in general, not great opening hours either. Bad gym culture, the PT's were generally unhelpful
Before that i trained at the Curtin Uni Gym, (as a noob) and it was quite good with reasonable prices, i would have got more from there if i knew what i was doing while i was there.
Big Gym, Plenty of equipment and reasonable opening hours. Good for people that know their stuff, mainly hardcore guys. I have heard that the visiting Rugby nations/teams train here when they are in the state. Good gym culture, clean and the PT's knew their stuff.
I'm currently at the gym underneath somerset pools in vic park, suits me as its close to work, and opens earlyish in the mornings. It is pretty small although has enough equipment for most, can get busy but doesn't phase me as i don't go in peak times. Good gym culture and helpful PT's.
*Hopefully this thread will help people to find training partners, or ask for help from PSB'ers that go to their gym.
