I now go to the Kings Park Next Generation Gym, is pretty dang good if I don't say so myself
The upstairs pool is great for 6am swims then to get out and look over the park and the city whilst having a hot shower after being in the pool

Mate I dont go there But I looked around once and I wasnt very impressed for a gym that costs double every other gym. Granted you get all the other stuff like pool and spa and bar and shit. But in terms of the actual gym it looked shithouse.
The kind of place that doesnt actually cater to people that want to put on muscle, but just want to go and be seen while they do really light slow movements and try to get noticed.
But if anyone else goes they may in fact be able to tell you differently. Also my opinion obviously is biased to muscle gain if your looking for something else it may be right for you.

Well i joined up before reading your post, however you are right about the wank factor!
Personally im there for weight loss, cardio & muscle gain so it has everything i need, as i found that the gym offered a big selection of equipment, saying that i do agree with you from a muscle gain p.o.v.
plus it's across the road from work!
and for those that were wondering the membership fee i pay is $115pm.

Kettlebells are one of the best pieces of resistance equipment around, not too many people trained in instructing them in WA. They offer all the benefits of weight training with added cardio because of the unique nature of the bell. I know that Ultimate Crossfit in Freo do train with them, good luck trying to get a session as he mainly trains ADF, WAPOL and Fireys.
The actors from the movie 300 all used kettlebells in their training routine. Here are some sites to check out
http://www.gymjones.com/knowledge.php?id=35
www.crossfit.com
and for a free demo, hands on and Q&A session check out
Sweating Blood
Good luck if you try them out

edit: well i see you joined already...so i guess u know all that now
yup im there. really good in my opinion. cardio equipment is top notch and plenty of it. no waiting around at peak times.
weights equipment is about the same as any other gym ive been to (ie, fitness first and terry tyzack).
major pros are the cafe there is really good and convenient. best opening hours of any gym ive seen. top pool deck is great in summer to just chill out. brunch on a sunday is yummy. not full of idiots in the weights section grunting like apes showing off trying to impress the chicks. dedicated motorbike bays. change rooms are kept clean.
cons: parking can be a bit of a hassle at peak time...but alway manage to find a spot down the end.
