    Help with streaming audio options

    Folks,

Need some help with whats available to stream digital audio to an old amplifier.
The setup Id like to see if I can get going is NAS -> Network (wireless/wired) -> Device -> RCA out into amp.

I was hoping that one of those WDTV boxes had a headless option (so I could line up songs/playlists etc from my phone/PC via a web browser), but havent seen anything like it to date.

Any ideas that dont cost a fortune (Sonos, squeezebox and the Apple thingo all do the same type of job...but are not cheap!)

    Cheers

    Andrew

Might be a bit more expensive that some other options but Sonos really is a great system, even just as a single zone system.

Great control interfaces, works well with network drives and lots of access to online content as well.

Want cheap, get an apple airport express and a headphone to 2 rca jack (if you're not worried about a balanced signal). Stream audio, otherwise plenty of expensive options.

    Thanks for the replies guys.
Wish I had the $400+ for a Sonos system but given the use I think it will get I cant justify that much $$. Love the fact that its expandable and can play multi-streams to multiple devices..just so expensive.
Its a shame that the equivalent device to the airport express doesnt exisit as I really would like to use 'any' device to control it (android, PC, Itouch etc) but the express locks you in like so many Apple products
Anyway I think, given that there are no cheap options (I think the pinnacle sound bridge used to be able to do this, but it seems to be long gone from sale) I may see if theres just a cheap receiver on gumtree/in the for sale section. That way I can at least listen to FM radio, and if I want specific albums I can plug my phone/iPod in via RCA and listen outside. A little clunky but the cheapest option by far.

    Cheers

I did see a guy flogging a large set of sonos on gumtree, willing to separate. I was contemplating some of it.
