So the boy has just been told he has a hernia.....whats the op about? Anyone had one? Long recovery?
cheers crew![]()

I had a hernia op at 9 months old. Tried to walk too early. Dont remember it naturally.
Over achiever. What can I say.
So on the eight day, after wasting time faffing about with unimportant guff like heaven & earth & the waters & sky & creatures [& having a wee kip] & man.... God created PSB (GenesiSX-R1000)
It's pretty major surgery, basically, a tear occurs in the muscles and a piece of intestine pokes through, I did mine lifting a motor.
They cut you up, push it back in then stitch you back up.
Recovery will depend on individual circumstances, fitness level, and if he's capable of "training around" his pain.

Make sure he recovers properly as they do reoccur and may need mesh (Plastic) put in to hold it together if it tears too often (have two friends who have copped this). Weak spots in male muscles due to where your testicles were before they "dropped" hence the terminology "Have his balls dropped".

Don't make him laugh afterwards. I took my Dad out for the day a week or so after he had his op. HE hated me by the end of the day.
I've had 1.
My intestine and my left nut decided to share a room. Then the intestine got jelous and started to strangle my testicle. Very painful.
Op was major surgery. I have a "plug" not mesh in place. Recovery was sore but I was having sex the day after the surgery to see if it all worked still. Back to work 7 days after with light duties for a fortnight.
Nope not the Testicles....right lower stomach apparently, we thought it was his hip...as it was near the hip where his pain has radiated from for the last 6-12 months ( and yes I begged him to get it looked at, but he is stubborn) hopefully it will stop the pain for him.

lower right stomach......did the doc say inguinal hernia?
i had a double inguinal hernia 2 and a half years ago, bit of tum removed ,plastic mesh inserted on both sides.
your boy? young at a guess? he'll recover quickly.
took me over a year to get comfortable again.
if they put mesh in him it takes a while for it and the body to grow together. if he exerts himself the plastic cracks then settles again, can be painfull but you get over it.
and hassle the surgeon to not leave anything twisted in there, especially intestines if they go that far. *cough*

one of my work mates had one same place not to bad at all .your boy will need to looked after eg meals on tray while watching tv feet up, you will have to get a bell for him to call you when he needs anything good luck cheers richard![]()

Sounds like an classic male-patten inguinal hernia. That is a testicle related hernia - caused by the weak spots in male abdominal muscles where the tubes from the testes go through the abdominal wall (after which they go out out again to the penis).
This type of hernia is surgically repaired - sometimes with carbon fibre mesh reinforcement.

Is there anything Carbon Fibre can't do?

The good news is I am led to believe that once you have the carbon fibre inserted you will be pretty much bulletproof in the future as far as repeat hernias go - provided that you have the mesh inserted on boths sides of course. The trick is therefore to wait until both sides blow out before you go for the op!
In all seriousness though - don't wait - a hernia get get serious and warrant emergency surgery if neglected for too long.

Andy is recovering from dual inguinal hernia op atm had the front and back mesh put in by Clarke down in Midland.
Have to take it easy the 1st week after, nearly normal bedroom duties second week, he still has slight pain in his wound sites, he has to take it easy for another month then can start getting slowly back into it, should be 60% recovered then, might take up to a year to be 100%.
He's making sure he does the healing properly so that he has less chance of rupturing them again.
36 is alot younger than 58 so his recovery should be easier. It took him a week before he could ride his bike
major surgery but people get them done all the time.
im 30 and had my right side done at 14 and left side done 8 months ago.
last one I had 3-4 days off work and then was back just doing desk work. I was hobbling around the office for a a good 2 weeks I guess. My main problem was my belt putting pressure on the wound.
Didn't even try lifting anything for 6 weeks.
only problem I have now is if i stretch backwards. scar tissue isn't very flexible and it feels uncomfortable.
ask the surgeon about pros and cons of keyhole or open. i elected for open even though it comes with a big scar. as my surgeon explained it, the method for attaching the mesh is superior and less likely to have a recurrence.
im a holding, stroking, loving machine...also spanking
