investmenthotspots - anyone dealt with them?scam?

    Hi there,

In short, received some call on my mobile from people from QLD about possibly investing in properties over there and to talk about reducing my mortgage.

for some reason they seem fishy to me, anyone had any experience/phone calls from them??

It's an old saying but it's truer today than it ever was " if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is".
Or to put it another way, if these people are so good at making money why would they share the secret with you?

with all the scam going around i am a bit paranoid now, hope someone can shed some light on this.

received some calls in the last few days from someone local (assuming) and wanting to schedule a meeting at my place to talk about all this, did no sound too professional (used a word 'mate' a few times too!)

this person was going to visit me tonight at 6PM, waited until 7PM and sent the guy a message asking whats going on - he called me shortly saying he was involved in a car accident and couldnt call me as he has my number on his laptop (although he called me from his mobile yesterday), said he would call me tomorrow to arrange another meeting.

i dont believe in such coincidences...cant trust people nowadays unfortunately.

    they also have a website:

Mate, tell him to fuck off, he won't be offended, he will be used to it. You need a healthy dose of cynicism, it will serve you well and save you a lot of money

Looks legit, they're just an agency pushing a particular envelope of land and properties and would help you structure a way of investing in it. They make money by way of commission I imagine. Probably got your name from something you filled out and thought no more of, like a competition to win something. It's the easiest way to buy a mailing list/ customer leads.

    This.

Cold calling is a shit practise so I wont reward it with a positive response to start with.
Did you call the number on the website or email? There is nothing to say this guy works for them and there is nothing on the website alluding to such a person/ practise either.
Of course, now he has your address, phone number and knows when you are home or not...
Seriously, weigh up the risks versus the profit and ask yourself why the hell are you even considering it?!
If you are interested in investment opportunities, contact one of the many reputable local companies. I can recommend a Financial Advisor who specialises in real estate if you are so inclined. Im sure many others on here can too.

Seriously the company is legit. You'd think you lot had been asked to ship your bikes to a Nigerian on an oil rig or some such shit. It's likely to be an over priced service offered by an agent using RP data and other tools of the trade to locate properties ideal for investment within your price range or work out ways to make it work for you. Just a brokering type service. The dude isn't coming to his house to murder him and assume his identity.

I doubt it's cold calling, ask him to disclose where he got your details from.

i asked him to send me an email with the company details etc to my work email, if this is a scam he isint going to reply (nature of the place i work at).

i would just rather be safe than sorry as i know people get very clever nowadays when it comes to scamming! perhaps all this is just a coincidence after all.

Time shall tell, thank you for responses, will update when i get more info.

Qld property market is shot at the moment.
In a poor market, it's been common, in the past, for agents to target buyers out of town who don't have good knowledge of the market and often buy at inflated prices.
Check actual sales in Qld to understand where the market's at over there!

If the properties are such great bargains, why aren't Qlders buying them???

Have you seen the dividends on blue chip shares lately?

Run and dont look back, selling "investment opportunitys" on the other side of the country is a very old scam,

    undeveloped land

    flood plain

    or just plain BS,

furthermore anyone who rings on any phone to sell anything to me gets told to F___k Off!

why talk to someone you dont know and is trying to sell you something?

Seriously - if something is that good the guy on the phone wont ring a stranger and try and pass it on. I dont even hang up on these people - just leave them on the line, make em pay a few extra cents until they realise no-one is listening.
