I definitely got a lemon, I'm cool with that (though still disappointed at how many faults I had) but it's the after sales service that is shocking.
Even today when I called, they tried to convince me to buy Applecare (3yr warranty + phone support) for $419. I had to raise my voice to explain that I paid over $2k and 9mths later I still don't have a working laptop, and remind them that it's under warranty right now, Applecare or not.
I did get through to a product specialist however, he sounds like he'll try to replace it, but no promises. They've promised a callback today so hopefully they have a reasonable solution for me.

Yeah I saw your avatar and thought you were Kellygirl... Had to ninja edit the post...
Atleast they're making an effort to sort it out. I fucking HATE apple warranties here at Det...

Weee the new murleyPhone is in the mail, just got confirmation. Mate of mine got one on the day they were released, poor bugger sat there for 4 hours wondering why it wasn't working so I went around and showed him where to plug in the sim card **forehead slap**.
The damned thing is amazing. GPS picked up our location within seconds, my N95 all of a sudden had a guilty look on it's face as if to say 'yeah it should be that quick I'm just dicking around with ya', for a 2mp camera the shots were really good and web browsing is quite brilliant. And the apps already available? Awesome. Can't wait to get it... *fish is your csPhone in the mail? They reckon 7-10 days... OH FUCK I'LL BE IN NZ SNOWBOARDING next week damn damn damn
Hang on... receiving an iPhone should be no comparison to a snowboarding trip, please ignore my damns and yes I'll have a terrific time with no thoughts about the murleyPhone sitting at home waiting for me...

No, my csPhone is not. I am wearing skivvies and colourful "iFag" jumpers to no avail.
Latest: only available on Telstra corporate plans from 22 - July. And our company is getting antsy about data rates so sounds like they're about to do a bit of a supplier shoot-out. All great. Blah blah blah.
Result: *fish knows not when the new toy will be available. Not that it matters much - hopefully by the time it arrives there'll be some decent on-board map software available.

Vodafone's pricing is f-ing shithouse on these things.
For starters you can get it on a $79 cap, then you need to pay $20 for your 500mb of downloads a month, then you have to pay $99 for the phone up front. It's fucking crap!
I called them, expalined how much cheaper it is with everyone else, said I've been with them for x amount of years and I would change provider, so they said they'd waive the $99 upfront fee.... They then couldn't understand how their plan costs $20 more for the equivelant optus plan... stupid mofo's...

I haven't even bothered looking at prices hahah - just paid the $189 and I guess it'll be $69 a month, that's it. That sounded pretty good to me, plus it comes with 250mb data a month which is good enough on the road, and I'd be using Wifi at work and at home, so it works out quite well I reckon Plus I'm with Vodafone anyways couldn't be arsed changing plus Optus are unreliable and Telstra are a giant bag of shit

Not going to happen... Something in the SDK agreement states something along the lines of "thou shall not create voice mapping software for thy jesusPhone".

You even looked at Telstra's pricing?
'nuff said
Optus is by far the cheapest... And I don't think Vodafone cares.
I know Telstra doesn't... They only got it because of public pressure. I know they do not want to carry it and encourage us to sell other things.

Everybody knows that the iPhone can make phone calls, play movies & music, surf the web, and a lot more. But, Will It Blend? That is the question.

We'll see. Apple taketh away, apple may yet giveth. Some hot debate over whether this is a cover thine posterior exercise or a licensing arrangement with google or tomtom or someone else.

Just got back from an allphones shop.
Their word? Wait. Forget the iPhone - if you want an iPod Touch, get one. If you want a slick phone which does all the good stuff, wait a couple of months.
The U900 Omnia and the HTC Touch Pro will be released pretty much head to head in Oz late September. Both have far superior spec to the iPhone (HSDPA, expandable memory, WiFi, real bluetooth, GPS with actual GPS software that doesn't need Google, blah blah blah).
Yeah, they're windoze phones. But from all I'm reading the old Windows CE has come a long, long way since the early days. And both HTC and Samsung have added their own sweet interface on top.
So enjoy your iPhones, macfags.
I's gonna get me something that does more than look pretty

You would place money in the bank on a Windows product have a tangibly EASIER to use interface than a Mac one?
Whoa put down the crack pipe man and stop listening to your brown Zune

+1. Omnia, looks awesome, tempted to buy one off ebay right now, but I don't trust a $1000 transaction over the net

pkunt - no, the apple interface will kick the winbloze attempts down the street.
So I have to choose between that slick finish and ease of use and a few little things offered by teh other camp, like bluetooth sync, removeable memory (different maps etc), gps that actually works without raping my phone bill and will still work when I don't have 3G coverage, not having to use that benighted piece of shit iTunes, being able to write mini-apps without going through the Apple crap (ie having to develop on a mac), having HSDPA speed when I _do_ want the web on the go, better screen resolution, better battery life, and several other more technical advantages.
Hmmmmmm...
Yeah, the iPhone still looks the slickest of the bunch. But...
