rofl wtf

It is the SHIZZNITS. It is the same "touch" as the iTouch iPod variant (go try it out at an Apple store). The user must have been retarded or something.

srsly

I should click on links more often... that is infact a 3G version of the iPhone... interesting. However, its too bad the cost of mobile data services in Australia rape you in the ass, and will do until there is *decent* competition for Telscum.

i note from the "tech specs" page that it does work on UMTS 850 - which i assume means it includes NextG. But then i've read elsewhere in regards to other phones that just because it works on 850 doesnt necessarily mean it will work on NextG.

Yeah, the Nokia 6500 supports UMTS 850 but the radio antennae for that band is so weak its almost worthless.

However I would expect that Apple including UMTS 850 support that it will actually work, because AT&T in the US are developing a UMTS 850 network and thats who the official partner is in the US.

I was going to start this thread myself last night, but didn't know if anyone else really cared..

I was following along the keynote live!

And that's why it won't compete fully with blackberry, unless they start iPhone data plan.

Come round and have a play with my MacBook and iPod and you'll see why they are so damn popular.
I'd be tempted to wait for V2 of the iPhone before shelling out coin on one though.
EDIT: Oh, it is the second version...

yes but surely you'd agree that a big factor in Mac's success has little if anything to do with the quality of their products.

i disagree. their laptop quality surpasses others i've ever used (compaq, hp, dell, asus, toshiba, lg, nec).

plus their OS works. never crashes. no issues that Windows does on almost an hourly basis.

While I much prefer OS X, I wouldn't say never crashes...

I've had 2 crashes in 3 years... Both my fault of course.

You can on the current one, just need to jailbreak it and install SwirlyMMS.

I'm sure the version 2 firmware will be hacked as well.

Just had a thought, with this massive price drop how are those people who bought the old iPhones that were for sale feeling?

that may well be the case, but i still think a lot of people buy mac products because of the "cool" social status.

what about mp3 players? There are any number of examples of players that shit all over iPods, but ipods still outsell them 10 to 1.

If you read the article here Cut-price 3G iPhone in Australia by July 11 | NEWS.com.au you will see that they are being offered as pre paid phones. Probably due to the fact that apple.com.au will also be selling the phone. $199US for an 8gig phone though, if they even think about charging 400+ for the equivilant i will just order in from overseas.

Steve mentioned last night that it will be no more than US$199 all over the world.

Whatever that is supposed to mean.
