    Loan of a recumbent trike

Does anyone have a recumbent trike they'd loan or hire to me for a day? There is a ride coming up at the end of October for multiple sclerosis that I'd like to go on with some work mates. I don't have a bicycle and I don't want to buy another one, I have an interest in the recumbent trike even though I've not ever ridden/driven one, I like the design and think it would be a good alternative to a bicycle. So, I'm taking this opportunity to ask if someone would loan or hire me one for the day so I can participate in the ms ride and try out the trike. Cheers Peter. PM or mobile 0401 946 706.

    Those things scare me.
Less maneuverable and slower than a standard bike and conveniently drop your entire body and bike just below the bottom of the window so you are TOTALLY invisible.

The thing stopping me do that is I'm not a member of their forums, I can't imaging them saying "hi, haven't seen you here before but sure take my bike"

wish i knew about this thread before, i am on a bicycle forum and some people do have trikes (BNA - Australian Cycling Forums • Index page)

tried one a month ago and it was great, very comfortable things, would probably consider one for my next tour.

if you are thinking about perhaps getting one, i know a guy in Albany who builds them from scratch, clever fellow.

I'd like to know about the guy in Albany, there was a guy in spearwood building them, called himself logo trikes, beautifully put together trikes, expensive though and he's stopped building them, his website is still up

I can only assume the lack of reply means the poor fellow has come to an unfortunate end at the hands of an enraged motorist, driven mad by those little waving orange flags usually found on the top of those trike things.

Desmo did try and warn the fella.

Just got home, good ride :-) the recumbent was excellent, took about 15 minutes to get the hang of it and then laid back and enjoyed the ride, huge turnout for the event, some people there have spent big money on their bikes

And, being serious for once, do they make your legs work harder than a normal bike, seeing as how you can't push your weight down through the pedals?

I haven't riden a pushie in over 15 years, rode the recumbent yesterday for 25km and today my legs aren't sore

I didn't answer the question, I didn't feel it made my legs work any harder that what I remember on a pushie, felt like a natural position to be in
