Local Footy Clubs - How to join

Now I'm coming from a pretty huge loner/ introverted background which I've been smashing through these past 3 years, and I've found out I love sports.
Not watching it, being apart of it. Makes me feel more alive and carefree then I've felt since before High School

My problem is, I've done things like indoor volleyball before and I go to the gym regularly but for the life of me I don't know how to get into a local Footy team.

I've been in Perth for about 2 months now and settled in and I want to join a local club (I'm Wembley based) and see how fit and good I can get at good old Aussie rules.

Pointers? I noticed the local Oval has signs up for Juniors/Colts and Amateur.. But I dunno what that means.. even after a quick google.
And yes I know its off season but I wanted to see if they keep rolling on during pre-season to be fighting fit.

I asked the lads at work, but their expertise is either limited (IT guys) or they play volleyball/ soccer. Which is cool, but my interest is aussie rules focused.

    I'd start by looking here:
    Wembley AFC
There's a 'become a member' link on the homepage. From the looks of it, they've pretty much got a couple of decent teams and a couple of social teams. I haven't played footy since I was 8 years old, but in my experience (baseball) most amateur sports clubs are very welcoming of new members.
Ask them about off-season training if that's what you want to do, otherwise it'd be a good idea to find out when their registration day(s) are. That's when everyone goes along to register for the new season, both previous and new players.

I think amateur will mean either their top side or their adult sides in general. Colts is under 18 (could be under 19? can't remember)

cnr Jersey St and Salvado Rd has that footy oval. They've always got a sign up saying players welcome.

Thanks for the replies. Yup I had a gander at their website.. I guess I'll cruise down and call around see what I can find. That Salvado rd/ Jersey St Oval is where the WembleyFC trains I believe. Im like 200 meters away
