Macbook Pro yellowish tint instead of white?

Hey guys, listening to some heavy tunes today I noticed the white lines in iTunes begin to flicker yellow, and then all the pure whites on my screen were replaced with a yellow tint.

So far I've scoured the macrumors forums and stuff, not really found any info.

What I have done is gone into the screen calibration, and changed the true white level from 6507K to about 6097K. This has removed the yellow, but given a very slight pink tint to everything (much better than a horrible yellow white though)

Has anyone else experienced this or can offer advice?

My headphone jack has been faulty too (when disconnected the laptop thinks there is an optical connection so disables the inbuilt speakers)

All seems to have happened in the last two weeks, plan to take it into the store tomorrow.

How old is it?
The ribbon cables between the laptop and screen wear and degrade over time and can cause this.

if the blue element in the cable is screwy, it will cause a yellowish tinge where white would normally be.

Had an Asus Laptop that the screen would flicker and go yellow, tilting the screen back and forth would stop it, the I tracked it down to where oe of the hinges were and every time it done it, a tap on the hinge fixed it.

It was purchased in 08/09 so circa then.

right now there is no yellow tinge because of my white adjustment, I'll try screenshot to see if it shows up.

update - Ok so I went to change back to the uncalibrated white balance, and now my screens back to normal.

My laptop was shutdown for a few hours this evening while I had a couple beers at the pub.. I'll post up with screenshots if it returns.

From memory, the 08 machines may be the ones affected by an Nvidia fault? Got an Nvidia 8600 card in that?
