Modem Carked it. Trying to decide on new one.

So my Netgear DGN2000 died, the good old well known Capacitors let go after just 2 years for the LAN. Now I need to pick a new one.

I like the Netgears, been running them for years, and this was the first dud.

So, do I buy the DGN2200, or the bigger and better DGND3700? I cant see any difference besides the Dual Band Wireless and Media Share?

    Or open to other thoughts.

    Cheers.

    Indeed. Here's my own $5-fix-encounter:

    Capacitors!

    DGN2000 Overheating Issue Kills LAN

Not mine, but thats why, the board is a molten mess.

I could attempt it, but the CBF factor kicked in a little. I will put it aside to repair it later.

Apple, Netgear and Linksys would be the only home/SOHO networking gear I would use

    I wouldn't touch D-Link with a 100-foot pole, though apparently they've improved over time.

When my Netgear died a couple of months ago I went the cheapo option and got iinet's "Bob Lite". Signed up for 24 mths and got it free. I was already with them (bundled) anyway and have never had a prob with their service so no brainer...

If you really want to geek it up try the Whirlpool Forums...pretty well everything you need to know will be there.

Draytek bit on the $$$ side though.

Mate had a dgn2000, ending up making a bracket with a fan on each side of the modem to keep it cool haha.
