    Moving to NZ

Well after a long and good talk with my country manager it seems there is nothing holding me back from moving to NZ for a few years and attempting to live the dream (wicked roads and snow). Anyway im hunting around for shipping companies and the best way to get my car, bike and a few other odds and ends in my house over there. I was looking to get a container, load it up and send it across. Is this the way to do it or are there certain things that cant be put into containers at the same time. I was thinking bike on the ute, ute in the container and then other odds and ends around the container.

Also has anyone else done this? Or something similar?

    Cheers

I wouldn't Bother taking your car over unless it's a new Ford or Holden that your attached to. All the Jap cars are cheap as chups bru.

I'm gonna move there too, when the whole place is deserted coz they are all in OZ.

Dream of fishing on lake Taupo with nobody around.

Unless your car is something special / sentimental to you, flog it off here and buy the same thing there for 1/2 the price. All second hand cars whether imported or NZ new are cheap in NZ because there are no tariffs etc on used car imports, so it drove the whole market down. They don't protect their car manufacturing / assembly industry like they do in Oz. You can import any car / bike from anywhere in the world pretty easily, unlike here. And modifications are the name of the game there, also unlike here. Think Tokyo Auto Saloon style cars every Friday / Saturday night cruising the main cities as the norm. No yellow stickers either, so cut the hell out of your fender and no one will care or look twice at it.

Good luck with the move, you should enjoy it. I miss it terribly

I think the car will have to come. I cant seem to come across any cheap 2000 Hiluxs and by the looks of things for the first 12 months the bike and ute dont even need to be registered in NZ just checked out and passed by their pits. =D

What the fuck would you want to live in a country full of whiners with chips on their shoulders. It will be a punishment worse than a punishment worse than death.

Because take away the people (not all of which are bad) and you are left with an amazingly beautiful country with loads to explore in such a close vicinity, awesome roads to ride bikes on, snow (nice and close) and why the hell not go there im still young and dumb with nothing tying me down =D.

    Go shit somewhere else =P

there are way less hot girls in NZ. On the bright side, when you come back over the pond you'll be stoked at how hot the girls seem after you've lowered yourself to kiwi standards for the past few years

Small country syndrome is exactly like short man syndrome... Queenstown is awesome, may take a while for the locals to warm up to you as there are so many tourist there, but give it a decent amount of time and you'll be sweet.

I am well aware of this....but what it lacks in hot locals it makes up for in back packers.

Well one is hoping that the murdercycle will be a good starting point as it is here at home.

So much to do and work out. But its just as exciting researching as it is going to be heading there.

Make sure you get in with the locals, that's the only way you'll find out were the best places are, they certainly don't tell you when you are a visitor. If you take your car join a 4WD group. Top of the South or East coast of the North are my pick of places to be in NZ though there are some nice places on the West of the north.
