    MYOB Tax Tables

Is there anywhere that the 2009 - 2010 MYOB tax tables can be obtained from ?

I find it pretty luducris that I have to go and purchase an upgrade of MYOB just so that I can get the latest tax tables to use. I have read that in V13 you used to be able to edit these manually but since then they have removed the feature and it is now coded into the software and only available via MYOB's website .....

Yeh I have v17.5 currently installed with a v18 upgrade which I haven't installed as yet (didn't have a need to so didn't bother )

With the free download of 18.5 is that just a trial version ?

How many employee's do you have to do each week?

The myob I use at work is several years old and never been updated. Premier v5 I think.
I just manually calculate each workers pay, tax deduction and then save it as a recurring pay.
But even then, you just remember the numbers anyway. With only 3 employees, it isn't too hard which is probably why we've never updated. It does exactly what we want it to with the only exception being the payroll tax tables, and that's not worth the dosh imho for 3 employees.

I had a look and it appeared to be a trial unless I am looking at the wrong thing. I was looking at the MYOB Accounting Plus package, because that is what I have... I cant see them giving that away for free... Yo wouldn't' happen to have a link would you ??

I only have 6 and if worse come to worse I will do that but because they are casual and don't have standard hours it make is a little more of a chore. I was even thinking of just using the same tax rates as they are. Yeh sure I pay a little more tax (about $2 each) but hey.... I am sure I can claim it back... or can I ?

i have 2 employees. $450 is well worth it.
Accounting Plus is an awesome package.
given it's tax deductible, it ain't a lot of dosh.

I am in the same predicament as Mr FJ and others. Paid nearly $500 for the Myob Accounting Plus v18 and not allow to download the Tax Table and other updates because we didn't sign up for the premium support.

This is a big ask but is there any chance some of you can share the latest updates/tax table with me please?

    Yes I've the legit copy.

At the risk of flaming, isn't paying for tax software tax deductible and presumably an important part of your business? So "just do it"?

I was going to suggest something Open Source but

Pkunk, it is not like that. Would you pay AUD$500 (for example) for Windows Vista update (if they charge you for that) just because it is tax deductible? When you run a business, you don't buy anything/everything because it is tax deductible. Just because it is tax deductible doesn't mean you will get it for free at the end. It is a money grabbing exercise by MYOB but we can debate that later

Vista is a poor example since its not "required" (hey stick with Win XP ) and terrible

I would pay for something that is required for my business to run smoothly. In this instance I would probably call the MYOB sales team and yell at them until they stop extorting my business (give me an upgrade for free)

I would pay for something that is required for my business to run smoothly too pkunk. That's why I forked out $500 for the software. Basically you register your software with myob after you buy it, then you get free updates and free tax table update for like a year.

Then you wouldn't be able to access the product updates and tax tables update after that UNLESS you buy their premium support. Their premium support is terribly overpriced and we don't need the premium support.

Disallowing us to download the product update after a year - I think this is fair enough...but disallowing us to download the Tax Table is bullshit. It is required so that the PAYG and other components can calculate the tax correctly. In the other words, part of the software becomes useless after a year unless you buy their premium support.

    Get it?

you think MYOB are bad, try Oracle. Our support deal (required) is somewhere around $8m. Yes MILLION! This is standard operating procedure for accounting software now. The support is an integral part of the deal in their eyes.

betamax - I understand your gripe, but from the MYOB perspective they have people relying on their software and they're not prepared to let those people be reliant unless they have the most up to date software available. For something like tax, which changes frequently, I dont think its unreasonable.

Maybe you should look at it this way - $500 each year for the new version of the software is stuff all compared to hiring a bookkeeper.

Ok I got the tax table update (Tax Table Revision Date: 1/07/2009) and it is paid for in full.
Happy to share if I know who you are just so people doesn't have to spend $500 on data that's basically available free of charge from the ATO!
