need mod rewrite help.. .htaccess etc

sup all i wanna do some url rewriting using .htaccess - i've looked at a buttload of examples but can't wrap my head around the regexp shit...

basically i want to rewrite urls like this

http://www.blah.com/whatever/1234/Some-Random-Shit-Here/

to

http://www.blah.com/whatever.php?id=1234

similar to the url rewriting for the threads here...

can someone shoot me some code I'll love you forever

this is just wild cards, you can replace (.*) with ([0-9]+) for just numeric

http://www.blah.com/1/2/3/
