I didnt change it, the mods did

Yeah, we live together so i play it, its awesome fun. Just completed hardcore, gonna try insane on coop next.

Horde is awesome fun too, i want to try to get to level 50. Got to 18 with just me and my brother on split screen, so 50 is doable.

Just keep in mind that burn-in can be a problem with plasmas. It's not as bad now as it used to be, but for anything you're going to play for longe periods, LCD might be a better option.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

Ps3 has built in blue ray, wifi, free online play, HDMi cables, the User interface is 100 times better. although I havent tried the new xbox one. Cables and stuff all need to be baought for xbox which are expensive as is a wifi connecter.

Xbox apparently has more people online and 2 games that are pretty good but thats the only reason I can see why its worth it.

If you buy a kick arse tv why not have blueray as well. Also I dont even use my dvd player anymore everything goes in the PS3 blueray, dvd, divx, mps, photos etc.
I dont mean this in a harshe reply but...

Its the persons choice as to which console they buy, The games are very specific as to a persons wants and needs, which the Xbox 360's titles seem to cater to the market very well, Xbox Live is INFINITELLY better and costs fifty bucks a year to play, BIG WOOP, and blu-ray is practically useless for most people, i mean i love DVD's, they produce better sound and video quality than 99.9% of AV systems out there can use. Link the Xbox to your computer and you have one kick-ass media extender, which does put out 1080p, and full HD 7.1 sound. And in the right package the Xbox 360 is still half the price of the PS3 (Both including full networking and cableing capabilities.)

its supported on my 26" LCD, now im going to have to setup dual monitors. having the small silver 26" sitting next to the large black 42" is going to mess up the feng shui of my command center

Incorrect. Dolby digital and DTS are lossy compression schemes which reveal their lo-fi sound quality on the vast majority of AV systems. Blu ray looks better than DVD on any modern HD display.

Redfern gave objective advice having owned both systems, and all you offered is a view from an Xbox fanboy.

As for 1080p, well it's all depends at what speed they shot it at, 24 or 25 can produce horrible results with panning and action, it needs to be shot at 50 or 60p. For lots of action interlaced is better if not shot at those high p speeds.
Blu-Ray uses H.264/MPEG4/AVC or SMPTE VC1 not MPEG2 as DVDs use (H.264 is equivelant to MPEG4 not the lesser MPEG2). MPEG2 is provided in Blu-Ray players for backward compatibility only. The minimum data rate for BD is 36Mbps with typical read speed at 54Mbps to 72Mbps. Max is around 400Mbps.

Also, at full 1920x1080 res, BD acheives either 50-60i or 24p. 50-60p is only provided at 1280x720. Id question your saying that interlaced is better for motion as it only provides half the available TVL at any given moment. IE: 1080i will display 540TVL where as 720p will display 720TVL. However, with full HD displays supporting native 1080p, most of them will upscale lower res images to this thus reducing the visible differences.

On most display's youd struggle to notice the difference to be honest although most find 720P a better image.

im using the 1080p as a computer monitor on my PC. Civ4 is probably a couple of years old now and doesnt seem to have support for wide screen resolutions.

on my 26" LCD the 1024x768 game resolution automatically stretched across a 1280x800 picture no problems, but the new 1920x1080 screen wont do it.

Use a 720p display, this is the native output for the xbox 360. You will NOT get better graphics using an xbox 360 with a 1080i display. I don't know of any xbox360 games that support 1080. 720p will also give you a better refresh rate than 1080i, which is very important for gaming.

edit: I just found 6 1080p xbox games here: http://www.makeyougohmm.com/xbox360-1080p-games/

If you will be playing any of those, then a 1080p display would be better, but it's only 6 games out of hundreds. Go the 720p display mate.

Interestingly 1920/1080p 30p is not part of the Blu_Ray spec. I have made MPEG 2 Blu_Rays.

    Progressive...
Well go and watch some 24 or 25p pans or up-down-side motion. Suffers from the motion screw effect.

PAL 50i means the camera is taking 50 pics and interlacing them together to get 25fps.
NTSC 60i means the camera is taking 60 pics and interlacing them together to put out 29.97 or 30 fps.

25p means the camera is taking 25 individual frames so you can see it how it can fall apart with certain shots as there simple is not enough pics being taken to keep things smooth. 50p or 60p is good though.

A good example is these new DSLR camera's that shoot 24,25 or 30 progressive video. Only good if the camera is sitting still, shoot while moving around and all kinds of funny things happen to the video.

So unless you are setting up shots for progressive shooting or you have a camera that shoots 50 or 60p, for the average user interlace works best.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is Civ4?
I dont mean this in a rediculous insult, please dont judge. I own PS3, and a Wii, i also own an Xbox 360 which RROD'd a little while ago, its my complete unbiased explanation. Definatelly not a fanboy of any regard, as i stated, games are subject to the BUYERS opinion, as i stated the purchase of an Xbox is his opinion and that no one else should try and change his mind. As i state in my opinion Xbox live is far superior to PS online, and 50 dollars a year is nothing. And In my opinion why spend 60 dollars on a Blu-ray DVD when you can spend 20 dollars on a normal dvd, and dont say rent because for years the rental market for Blu-ray dvd's will be so useless that that has no meaning (Opinion). A DVD recording is a common thing costing sometimes the same as a blu-ray player, statement as the DVD can thebe used to record shows and whatever you want. And really how many TV and im talking the actual panel within the TV can really run the top resolutions properly, and when something is upscaled to that level it is no improovement. and to be honest with out a TUNED and high quality sound system the difference is soo small that why would you bother, i mean im running a full 5.1 Bowers and Wilkins sound system from an Onkyo amp, and fully and professionally tuned in a good acoustic room you can still hardly tell the diference, (im talking a 5000 dollar system). Oh and almost no video produced in the world is truely running at 1080p, somtimes not even 1080i, and 720p is excellent. Again all of this is personal opinion. But i look at this stuff alot, and as im saying no im not a fan boy of the xbox (microsoft hater here, but have to use it, so im used to it) i stated the ways in which i believe the Xbox is striking, it can play as an excellent media extender (if connected to XBL), and its half the price. I dont mean to come off in a bad way, all is opinionated, and no i dont just go fly shit round like... eg the PS3 is better cause it has wireless, big woop, i run a gigbit lan setup here so i dont pay attention to it, and what do i need all the HDD space for, 20gigs is heaps unless i modded my consoles. And blu-ray doesnt affect me as i dont run my system up to that spec anyway as it runs better at a lower spec.
