Actually there are a few crew from PSB going to purchase their own server - r0gue is going to as well AFAIK.

Out of interest what hardware were you guys running the beta on?

I'm still using my rather old pc which has a core2duo@3.1GHz and a gtx260 in it and it ran like complete and utter crap. I've been meaning to upgrade for a while and now it seems I have a good excuse to.

With those specs it will run really slow with poor fps. You want quad core, and a pretty decent video card.




I just upgraded, so mine is quite a beast now, and i am getting 50 to 60 fps. My former machine played BC2 fine, but really struggled with BF3.

By the way, it is looking like no providers will have dedicated servers available in Perth before it is released. Closest i can find is Adelaide or Sydney, which sucks.

I have the following:
Core i7 2600K 3.4ghz CPU
Z68X-UD3R Gigabyte motherboard
8Gb DDR3 Ram
Sata 2 SSD for boot drive, but my BF3 beta was installed on a standard Sata drive
GTX560 SLI (ie. 2x GTX560 cards linked)
850W power supply
$100 Creative SB sound card.
Win 7 64-bit

Mine ran smooth, load times were fk all etc.
Every now and then I'd get a spike but I think it was server based because a mate of mine would get issues at the same time whilst we were chatting over vent.
I usually get between 70-140FPS, its usually quite constant.


Sydney servers in beta weren't TOO bad to play on though... fairly decent pings still.
Perth servers will obviously be heaps better but yeah. They'll come.

I have booked a week off work to nerd it up when this is released, first time I've taken time off work for a game and thought I'd do it for a laugh haha.

This guy seems to be able to turn his jet sooooo easily.
When I was playing... I couldn't figure out how to flare.. couldnt figure out how to air brake, couldn't figure out how to turn HALF as quick as that... I had to do these stupid long turns...
I even turn my sensitivity up on the mouse when I do it but it just doesn't seem to do anything..

Yeah pings to sydney were not bad at all. I figured i would rent an adelaide server to start with, and switch it to perth when they become available.

^^Similar to the build I'm now thinking about doing. I'm currently looking at:

Corei5 2500K 3.3GHz
Asus P8Z68-V PRO motherboard
8GB 1600MHz ram
750w power supply
120GB Corsair Force Series 3 ssd
2TB WD Black hdd
2TB WD Green hdd (I like to hoard TV shows, movies, etc.)
HAF case (already have it and love it)
Plus the sound card I currently have, IIRC X-Fi Forte

and for the video card its a toss up between the gtx560ti or I may stretch the budget for a gtx570

I'm running a 22" so its 1680*1050 and this build should be able to keep me going for quite some time.

Well I'm going Adelaide anyway. Its 30c cheaper per slot with Gameservers and more chance of a full server in Adelaide.

I have a slot reserved on an OCAU server and I'd chip in for a PSB one too.

Posting my specs wouldn't help people figure out if it would run or not.
