I think this is the right place to mention it:
I am utterly disappointed of Serious Sam 3 BFE. Fan from the very first hour of this saga, I am easily pleased with running and shooting... a lot. I totally don´t mind replacing a mouse that was KIAed, if that is what it takes to complete Serious Sam 2 in highest frustration mode/difficulty.
Part three only makes you hide and reload (a gun) a lot. Playing my little sisters Barbie Horseriding Simulator makes you spend more rounds at enemies then you get to in Part 3 it feels like. At the end it gets better but not by much.
Having been waiting for Duke Nukem 4 ever for 13 years, I shouldn´t be suprised, that this was not a fantastic game either. Again too much thinking and not enough shooting necessary for my liking. But at least it was funny whereas Sam lost his humour alltogether...
Maybe I am just getting old and grumpy
Freespace 2 can be had on GOG.com (Good Old Games) for, like, $5 and it worth that 10 times over. Fantastic fun if you like your dogfighting.
I have recently been going through FF13 again, and it's not as horrible as I remember. I am appreciating the technical achievements now while I didn't before, though the story is still mostly crap, which is the main disappointment since the reason they stated that they made everything so linear and boring was so they could tell a good story. They did do a good job with the characters though, but once they all became one big happy group, everything just sort of stops and there is nothing there for the last 1/3 of the game and the story goes from decent to mediocre then convoluted mess that makes even less sense than most FF games.
If they could fix the pacing and rewrite the last 2 chapters into something remotely decent, it would have been pretty good.
^ Back to freespace.
After the kerfuffle with licensing and the IP getting killed off, the source code found its way into the wild.
Over the last few years the engine has been completely rewritten and all assets converted to high def versions.
This page is a good jump point for getting everyhting up and running: FSOInstaller.com
Additionally, it bundles with a whole bunch of "expansions".
I haven't played through all the bundled content, but there is a continuous series of fan made content that deals with 3-4 more games worth of events, which I have completed.
They are highly polished and (surprisingly)even well voice acted.
IIRC they're called: Just Another Day 1, 2, & 3
If you like compelling story driven gameplay ala orignial freespace and no. 2, these should definitely get a look in.
"In all the human societies we have ever reviewed, in every age and in every state, there has seldom if ever been a shortage of eager young males prepared to kill and die to preserve the security, comfort and prejudices of their elders, and what you call heroism is just an expression of this fact; there is never a scarcity of idiots." -The Culture

Really should get back into it, problem is I have no idea as to where either of my copies of the above have disappeared too, I know I haven't loaned them to anyone, maybe making a visit to ebay.
There were rumours flying about around 12 months ago, Lucasrts were hiring coders, 3D modelers etc, but nothing was ever officially announced, I did send an email two years ago asking if there was ever going to be a re-release, never heard back, Lucasarts have pretty much ignored the PC comunity in the last few years, except for KOTOR etc it has been pretty dull, I did play RC and it was okay, Battlefront 1 & 2 were just cash ins on the popularity of BF2.
Considering the GPU power we have nowadays I am very surprised and disappointed that they haven't released a new version
So, that cheap copy of mc vs atv alive I got, works fine.
Cept the developers decided to only supply half a game.
Very few tracks, no championship mode, no supercross, no Honda/yamaha/ktm etc just game made bikes. The list goes on.
You start out with only 2 'national' tracks and 2 short tracks, as must replay these multiple times, before you can unlock any kind of new tracks. These proccess repeats untill leaving you with a 'is that it' feeling.
Replay, replay, and replay, and you'll finally get the 450cc class bikes. But they will be worse than your 250 due to that being used so much, and modified, so replay, replay, and replay some more, and now we are getting somewhere.
If you want supercross, you've got to pay for it online. If you want the James Stewart compound you've got to pay online, ditto for yamaha ktm Kawasaki (pretty sure Suzuki and deffinately Honda can't even be purchased within aus FFS!)
That supercross pack gives you, wait for it, 2 tracks!!!
But there are more to come.... Maybe... In months.... When we are all tired if the game already.
Very, very, poorly thought out.
Fucking hate DLC.
Just make me wait, and supply me with a game I will be happy with. How hard is that?
season 2012 is coming.....

I'm pretty sure D3 was meant to be a Q1 release but it just recently got delayed again. Here we are Blizzard: Diablo 3 Release Date Scheduled For Q2 2012 So now its set to Q2 2012 so that means before June 30th
So, minecraft has a lite version for iPhone.... Kinda, addictive I guess.
What's the go for the real version.
Things to kill?
Do you have a limited supply of blocks that you can replenish somehow, or is it unlimited?
Besides placing blocks on blocks and making stuff, is there anything else you do? Multiplayer?
season 2012 is coming.....
i dont know what the iphone version is like but i assume its like creative mode in normal minecraft. in the real minecraft you dont just build, you mine and craft... you start with nothing and you have to go and cut down trees and dig up dirt. then you use your dirt to make a house and wood to make tools that you use to dig up stone and ore. then you use the stone to make better tools and the coal to make torches. you use the torches and the house to survive the nasties when it gets dark then when the sun comes up you run around collecting materials to build yourself a sweet pad. then you just generally run around collecting stuff and looking for the rarer materials to make sweet stuff like roller coasters and farms and traps and to build bigger and sweeter pads for you and your dogs to chill in.

Sounds like what i'd be expecting then.
System requirements pretty basic I'd guess with the graphics it runs?

You can save anything you create? You generate worlds in single player and they stay there until you delete them.
or are you referring to the iPhone version?
Want awesome looking headlights or other lights? PM me
Lock your shit up!
Sceince flies you to the moon, Religion flies you into buildings.

Minecraft multi-player is hideously addictive. There are two modes, creative and survival. Creative you can do what you like and are invincible, survival you must mine/craft/collect the blocks and are vulnerable to attack from mobs (skeletons, zombies, creepers etc).
For roughly 20 bucks it's a great game.

Yes, I'm totally addicted. I play on mine.lewna.net
