On the Vibrams there is also The Running Centre in West Perth which has stock.

I went there on Saturday and they are all experts there. They do all the standard measuring but get you to do a run on the treadmill and analyze your run and then pick out the shoes for you. At the athletes foot its amazing how everyones perfect shoes (choice of 3) range from $250 upwards.

How much were Vibrams, Most Aussie prices would put them in the 250 dollar range.

The treadmill video is interesting and the people are knowledeable.

Haha, I replaced my Athletes Foot runners with a pair from the Running Centre, made a huge difference.

Im just curious to know what they go for in Perth. Rei dont carry the full range, I tried a few actual stores when I was over there and hardly any had stock. There are better places, but Rei probably has a better international return policy.

The Good life are sell off a lot of old Zest stuff, not sure about Treadmills but I saw a cross trainer there the other day. Also selling weight plates for $1 a kilo.

Be aware though you may have to be very patient trying to get a response.

I think swimming is going to become a regular thing for me. Managed to do 1km in the pool (40 laps of the 25m pool), split up between freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, lunges and powerwalking. I'm tired, but not sore, and feel more supple than when I started. It's a great way to loosen up tight muscles.
In life you only get one lap, might as well make it a good one.

    hi 5!

i find with my swimming, if i count up to 40, 60 laps whatever, it seems like ive been at it for ages and begin to think "ive done 50, thats enough"...

if i count down i never finish early, give it a shot!

Well I got to 25 and thought "I feel pretty good, might as well keep going for the 1km". Didn't have any goals in mind, was more about relaxing and stretching out.

You needed stretching out after Spock's sprints last night ??
Cant say I blame you, I was pretty stiff at work today

It's better to be thought stupid than open your mouth and remove all doubt

Pure speed in sixth gear on a 5,000 foot straightaway is one thing, but pure speed in third gear on a gravel-strewn, downhill, ess turn is quite another.

Averaged 20k/hr, which is ok for my unfit ass, topped out at 45, kinda jovial about that..

Ok, I've let it go on long enough.

Currently weigh 92 kilos dependant on a good crap etc.
176 cm tall or short (however you look at it).

Used to be a fit fuck in my early days rowing, weights etc.
    No excuses just got comfortable.

I've started with some calcs to work out what I'm eating in calories and what I require for healthy weight loss. Would like to be 80 kg or slightly less.

I exercise a little already and need to step this up, so with the aid of a suspended license I'll be getting on the pushbike for some of my work shifts, so thats 44 k's round trip at least once a week. I have crosstrainer and weights at home which I'll use more. The main goal is to eat better and get the right amount of food in and better quality.

Been quit smoking for more than a year now and will not go back. Cut back drinking (not too much at all now and only beer).

Need to make some changes and be more positive and hopefully through some healthy weightloss and tuning up the mind will follow. I think I've made excuses long enough or blamed something or someone else. So no more excuses. I'll keep you posted.

Well the bike ride was a piece of piss and I'm counting the calorie intake and usage. Found a good app for iphone myfitnesspal it works out your (average) metabolic rates, calorie requirement and what intake to reduce weight and factors in exercise etc tables and graphs it all to track progress.
Also found a good free bicycle tracking program.

It's an 18 k ride from work to home and vice-versa. Feels good, not quite keeping up with the lycra brigade on the cycle paths. I manage to ride cycle paths most of the way home so not having to hit the road except for leaving Kewdale in the morning. Feeling good about this.

A couple of us are going for a swim this Thursday evening. What is the midvale pool like? Is it surprisingly non-shit like the Balga one, or a seething cesspool?

I like Bayswater waves, Balga is good, what other options are there in the north-eastern suburbs?
