Putting movies on your Xbox 360?
So, I want to get a few movies that are on my computer at the moment, and store em on the 360 to watch, anyway for me to this?
I was hoping its a simple copy and paste once i plug the xbox into the computer via the cables they give me.
But im not that techy with this kind of stuff, so a step by step guide on how to, or just any information whatsoever would be great.
Is it the same as putting music onto your xbox? where the xbox rips it from the cd?

the 360 can now play divx movies so you dont need to convert it to proper dvd format.
just copy the divx files straight to the hdd.
im just saying use the dvd as a transfer medium. if you have a large enough memory key, use that instead.im a holding, stroking, loving machine...also spanking

usb. if you have a portable HDD plug it into the usb port on the xbox. you can then copy over.
However....... I tried this and it would allow me to play the movies because my codecs were not up to date on the xbox.
because I dont have an xbox live account, I was not able to update the codecs and play any videos.Have you won the game recently?? Post here

You cannot store divx movies on the xbox hard drive. It will not allow you to do so, unless there's been some change in the last three weeks I was away.. firing up the xbox now actually.
You can stream if from a media center PC, or plug a USB storage device into it, or play divx off a DVD/CD.
That's it.

Tversity
TVersity - Home
Runs as decoder/encoder/streamer for pretty much any format (other than mdk) from your PC to your xbox360.

No, none at all, absolutely no way at all possible to play Divx content on your Xbox. None.
Apart from these ways:
.. and Tversity. Haven't tried that, but have been given mixed reviews. For now using USB storage works fine, but we have a media center PC attached to the telly as well.
Read thread and prosper.

I know about streaming it, but I dont have a router, nor do i have a cable long enough to go to the xbox from the back of my modem.
So, streaming isnt an option for me.
at the moment im trying to just burn DVD copies of these movies, hoping the xbox will read it correctly...

+1 for TVersity.
Use it to stream to my PS3, 360, and other computers. Auto converts to what the device can handle all at 1080P. Conversion is very fast, limiting factor once you have a decent computer is your HDD not processing power.

I don't have any issues but I'm using a wired connection. Give Tversity a go see how it works for you. I probably wouldn't want to stream HD movies but for any TV series there is absolutely no issue.
In my next place I'm going to build a media PC, but in the short term and for non-blue ray or HD stuff I think it's great. The hold up will always be processing side, and I've noted that Tversity has no codecs for .mdk (which apparently is some sort of a media content container, and the follow on from .ogg)
Also does music of course no issues
